Mechanobiology is the analysis of the role of mechanical forces in educing a molecular response in cells. Nowadays, mechanobiology may contribute to clinical progress. In particular, mechanical stimulation has been proposed to induce chondrogenesis in engi ...

Cryopreservation and lyophilization processes are widely used for conservation purposes in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and food industries or in medical transplantation. Such processes deal with extremely low temperatures (e.g., -196 degrees C) a ...

Thermo-responsive hyaluronan-based hydrogels and FE002 human primary chondroprogenitor cell sources have both been previously proposed as modern therapeutic options for the management of osteoarthritis (OA). For the translational development of a potential ...

Metabolism of proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid has been shown to be temperature- dependent in cartilage explants, with optimal anabolic effects between 36 1C and 38 1C. At rest, the temperature of human knee has a value of around 33 1C. We aim to show in ...

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) preparations have recently become widely available in sports medicine, facilitating their use in regenerative therapy for ligament and tendon affections. Quality-oriented regulatory constraints for PRP manufacturing and available ...

While many injectable viscosupplementation products are available for osteoarthritis (OA) management, multiple hydrogel functional attributes may be further optimized for efficacy enhancement. The objective of this study was to functionally benchmark four ...

Several studies have reported an increase of temperature in cartilage submitted to cyclic sinusoidal loading. The temperature increase is in part due to the viscous behavior of this tissue, which partially dissipates the input mechanical energy into heat. ...

Cultured autologous human articular chondrocyte (HAC) implantation has been extensively investigated for safe and effective promotion of structural and functional restoration of knee cartilage lesions. HAC-based cytotherapeutic products for clinical use mu ...

Hand tendon/ligament structural ruptures (tears, lacerations) often require surgical reconstruction and grafting, for the restauration of finger mechanical functions. Clinical-grade human primary progenitor tenocytes (FE002 cryopreserved progenitor cell so ...

Niacinamide (or nicotinamide) is a small-molecule hydrosoluble vitamin with essential metabolic functions in mammalian cells. Niacinamide has become a key functional ingredient in diverse skincare products and cosmetics. This vitamin plays a pivotal role i ...

Skin aging is a complex and multifactorial process influenced by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The periorbital area of the face is particularly susceptible to premature aging signs due to its delicate skin structure, and is a major concern for many ...

Knee cartilage is a soft tissue having viscoelastic properties. Under cyclic loadings, viscoelastic materials dissipate mechanical loadings through heat generation. In knee cartilage, this heat might not be convected because of the tissue avascularity, res ...

Lyophilized organ extracts from livestock such as beef or elk are widely commercially proposed as animal-sourced nutraceuticals. Such preparations contain blends of vitamins and nutrients that may be employed for general or specific dietary supplementation ...

Multi-drug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa has increased progressively and impedes further regression in mortality in burn patients. Such wound infections serve as bacterial reservoir for nosocomial infections and are associated with signi cant morbidity ...

Articular cartilage, together with skin, was predicted to be one of the first tissues to be successfully engineered. However cartilage repair remains nowadays still elusive, as we are still not able to overcome the hurdles of creating biomaterials correspo ...

Cultured primary progenitor tenocytes in lyophilized form were previously shown to possess intrinsic antioxidant properties and hyaluronan-based hydrogel viscosity-modulating effects in vitro. The aim of this study was to prepare and functionally character ...

Articular cartilage is a soft tissue showing inelastic properties. Under cyclic loading, inelastic materials may dissipate mechanical energy into heat. In knee cartilage, due to an intrinsic reduced heat convection related to its avascularity, a local temp ...

Providing accurate and up-to-date practical tools enabling oversight of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) legislation and of the appropriate standards to be implemented for its manufacture and use in Europe is a demanding task. This is due to rapid medico-technol ...

Allogeneic dermal progenitor fibroblasts constitute cytotherapeutic contenders for modern cutaneous regenerative medicine. Based on advancements in the relevant scientific, technical, and regulatory fields, translational developments have slowly yet steadi ...

Mechanical stimulation has been proposed to induce chondrogenesis in cell-seeded scaffold. However, the effects of mechanical stimuli on engineered cartilage may vary substantially between different scaffolds. This advocates for the need to identify an ove ...
