In the current work, free volume concepts, primarily applied to glass formers in the literature, were transferred to ionic liquids (ILs). A series of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium (C4MIM) based ILs was investigated by Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spec ...

The mechanism of photoinduced symmetry-breaking charge separation in solid cyanine salts at the base of organic photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices is still debated. Here, we employ femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy (TAS) to monitor the cha ...

The first solid-state structures of complexed P3N3X6 (X=halogen) are reported for X=Cl. The compounds were obtained from P3N3Cl6 and Ag[Al(OR)4] salts in CH2Cl2/CS2 solution. The very weakly coordinating anion with R=C(CF3)3 led to the salt Ag(P3N3Cl6)2+[A ...

While reinvestigating the published synthesis of OPI3, it became evident from the experiments that phosphoryl triodide may only be formed as an intermediate and that the end products of the reaction of OPCl3 with LiI are PV oxides, PI3, I2, and LiCl. This ...

In this study, we investigated the tetraalkylammonium salts of the weakly coordinating fluorinated alkoxyaluminates pftb (Al(O(C(CF3)(3))(4)) hfip (Al(OC(H)-(CF3)(2))(4)) and hftb (Al(OC(CH3)(-) (CF3)(2))(4)) in order to obtai ...

In analogy to the authors' successful PX2+ insertion reactions, an AsX2+ insertion route was explored to obtain new arsenic halogen cations. Two new salts were prepd.: AsBr4+[Al(OR)4]-, starting from AsBr3, Br2 and Ag[Al(OR)4], and I2As-PI3+[Al(OR)]4 from ...

T-BuP(NH2)2 reacts with base-stabilized group 13 tri-hydrides with adduct formation (THF-BH3), with redn. to give t-BuPH2 (Me3N-AlH3) and with elimination of H22 and formation of a metallonitridophosphinate (Me3N-GaH3). In contrast, the reaction with Cp*Ti ...

The first condensed-phase preparation of ternary P-Ch-X cations (Ch=O-Te, X=F-I) is reported: [P5S3X2]+, [P5S2X2]+, and [P4S4X]+ (X=Br, I). [P5S3X2]+ is formed from the reaction of the Ag+/PX3 reagent with P4S3. The [P5S3X2]+ ions have a structure that is ...

The betain-like carbodiphosphorane CS2 adduct S2CC(PPh3)2 (1) reacts with Ag(I) salts which contain weakly coordinating anions such as [BF4]- or [Al{OC(CF3)3}4]- to produce the cluster compounds [Ag6{S2CC(PPh3)2}4][BF4]6 (2) and [Ag4{S2CC(PPh3)2}4][Al{OC(C ...

The strong cationic Bronsted acids [H(OEt2)2][Al{OC(CF3)3}4] (1) and [H(THF)2][Al{OC(CF3)3}4] (2) were prepd. in up to 95% yield by reacting stoichiometric amts. of di-Et ether/THF solns. of Li[Al{OC(CF3)3}4] and HX (X = Cl, Br), removing the solvent, and ...

The synthesis of the alkoxide [OC(tBu)(CF3)2]− by the reaction of tBuM-reagents (M = Li; MgX) with hexafluoroacetone was attempted. This alkoxide was anticipated to be a good building block for novel weakly coordinating anions. However, in all attempted sy ...

The invention relates to a method for the prodn. of salts of weakly fluorinated alcoholato complex anions according to the following formulas, M[FX(ORF)m]z (1) M[(FRO)mXFX(ORF)m]z (2) and M[(FRO)mXFX(ORF)nFX(ORF)m]z (3) (X = B, Al, Ga, In, P, As, Sb; M = m ...

Upon ionization of the P4S3I2 molecule with Ag[Al(OR)4], a highly reactive sulfonium cation P4S3I+ is generated (NMR simulated and assigned). At -80 °C this cation reacts with additional P4S3I2 to give either an iodophosphonium P4S3I3+ cation (NMR simulate ...

The mechanism and the thermodn. of the formation of EX2+, EX4+ and E2X5+ (E = As, P; X = Br, I) was carefully analyzed with MP2/TZVPP calcns. and inclusion of entropy and solvation effects (COSMO model approximating CH2Cl2). Thus, as likely intermediates t ...
