Heautoscopy, i.e., the encounter with one's double, is a multimodal illusory reduplication of one's own body and self. In its polyopic form, more than one double is experienced. In the present article, we review fourteen published cases of polyopic heautos ...

Here we provide the data to run the code provided in github.

Data required to train and test the models in data.zip ~37 GB when uncompressed. This includes: cleaned_smooth: pre-processed data from FLAG3D and PCR dataset, the elbow flexion datasets u ...

The construct of the self is conceived as being fundamental in promoting survival. As such, extensive studies have documented preferential processing of self-relevant stimuli. For example, attributes that relate to the self are better encoded and retrieved ...

The brain mechanism of embodiment in a virtual body has grown a scientific interest recently, with a particular focus on providing optimal virtual reality (VR) experiences. Disruptions from an embodied state to a less- or non-embodied state, denominated Br ...

Schizophrenia is a severe psychiatric disorder, in which patients experience an abnormal sense of self. While deficits in sensorimotor self-representation (agency) are well docu- mented in schizophrenia, less is known about other aspects of bodily self-rep ...

Objectives Ever since John Hughlings Jackson first described the so-called 'dreamy state' during temporal lobe epilepsy, that is, the sense of an abnormal familiarity (deja vu) or vivid memory-like hallucinations from the past (experiential hallucinations) ...

Wooden racket paddles were modified with rubber and carbon fibre laminates and their differences tested in terms of flexural, damping, and coefficient of restitution properties. Four rackets types were designed: a wood reference, wood with rubber, carbon f ...

Autoscopic phenomena are complex illusory perceptions of one's body during which human subjects experience a second own body or double in their environment. Autoscopic phenomena most commonly refer tovisual doubles, although doubles may also be felt or hea ...

A fundamental scientific question concerns the neural basis of perceptual consciousness and perceptual monitoring resulting from the processing of sensory events. Although recent studies identified neurons reflecting stimulus visibility, their functional r ...

Humans integrate multisensory information to reduce perceptual uncertainty when perceiving the world and self. Integration fails, however, if a common causality is not attributed to the sensory signals, as would occur in conditions of spatiotemporal discre ...

The human mind is continuously involved in "projecting" the self in time in order to process past memories and predict future occurrences. "Self-projection" in time involves episodic and spatial memory, relying on medial-temporal structures, but also engag ...

The present invention relates to systems and methods for predicting a prognosis of the neuropsychological and/or neuropsychiatric status in a subject based on reports of Minor Hallucination (MH) events in combination with electrophysiological data of the s ...

Background: Patients with psychogenic amnesia generally suffer from episodic memory deficits associated with an impairment of self-identity. While the first is generally attributed to limbic dysfunction, the latter might be related to posterior parietal co ...

We tested whether putting oneself in the shoes of others is easier for women, possibly as a function of individuals' empathy levels, and whether any sex difference might be modulated by the sex of presented figures. Participants (N=100, 50 women) imagined ...

There is growing evidence showing that the representation of the human “self” recruits special systems across different functions and modalities. Compared to self-face and self-body representations, few studies have investigated neural underpinnings specif ...

Orientation is a fundamental mental function that processes the relations between the behaving self to space (places), time (events), and person (people). Behavioral and neuroimaging studies have hinted at interrelations between processing of these three d ...
