Structural and dielectric properties of epitaxial SrTiO3 (STO) thin films on LaAlO3 substrates fabricated by a two-step growth technique using pulsed laser deposition were investigated by in situ and ex situ observations in terms of strain relaxation from ...

Strain engineering is a widespread strategy used to enhance performance of devices based on semiconductor thin films. In ferroelectrics strain engineering is used to control the domain pattern: When an epitaxial film is biaxially compressed, e.g. due to la ...

Using pulsed-laser deposition, a two-step growth technique was applied to epitaxial SrTiO3 (STO) thin films on LaAlO3 substrates providing a way to obtain an effective strain relaxation in these films otherwise strained due to lattice mismatch between film ...

A theoretical model for the dc bias dependence of induced acoustic resonances in paraelectric materials is presented. The field dependent piezoelectric constitutive equations were derived from the Landau free energy expansion with respect to the ferroelect ...

The dependence of the formation of ferroelastic stripe domain patterns on the thermal history is investigated by detailed piezoresponse force microscopy and X-ray diffraction experiments after and during annealing of tensile strained tetragonal Pb(Ti,Zr)O- ...

(001)-epitaxial (Ba0.5Sr0.5)TiO3 (BST) thin films with different magnitudes of compressive strain were fabricated on SrRuO3/SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition, and their electro-optic (EO) properties were characterized by modulation ellipsometry ...

In this paper, the reliability of tunable ferroelectric thin film capacitors has been addressed. The long term stability of tunable capacitors based on Ba0.3Sr0.7TiO3 films deposited by chemical solution deposition onto an alumina substrate was investigate ...

Synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements of Pb-Ti-O fine acicular crystals (nanowires) of the so-called PX-phase have been performed. The theta-2 theta patterns of the nanowires dispersed on substrates with two different geometries indicated that t ...

The structural property and electric field response of a single perovskite PbTiO3 nanowire were investigated by means of synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) with a micro X-ray beam. XRD 0-20 patterns and Raman spectra confirmed the formation of the perovsk ...

We report the thermodynamic potential for single-domain (110) thin films epitaxially grown on dissimilar cubic substrates. Using different sets of paraelectric phase elastic compliance coefficients of PbTiO3 single crystal, calculated from the experimental ...

(100)-epitaxial SrTiO3 thin films having biaxial compressive strains up to -1.60% were grown on lattice mismatched substrates. Two phase transitions induced by the coupled instabilities (antiferrodistortive and ferroelectric) in SrTiO3 were revealed in a c ...

The effect of mechanical loading on the tuning performance of a tunable Thin Film Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonator (TFBAR) based on a Ba0.3Sr0.7TiO3 (BST) thin film has been investigated experimentally and theoretically. A membrane-type TFBAR was fabricated by ...

everal SrTiO3 (STO) thin films without electrodes processed by pulsed laser deposition, of thicknesses down to 40 nm, were studied using infrared transmission and reflection spectroscopy. The complex dielectric responses of polar phonon modes, particularly ...

BaxSr1-xTiO3 (BST) and its composite films have been studied for the improvement of the tunable performances via nano-structual control. The strong correlation between strain and tunability similar to that between strain and permittivity was confirmed in t ...

PbTiO3 thin films were epitaxially grown on (001) KTaO3 single crystal substrates by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. The coherent epitaxial growth introduced a large in-plane tensile strain to the PbTiO3 film. This tensile strain increased T-C and ...
