We optimize the preparation of BZY20 and BCY10 by a wet chemistry route (the polyacrylamide gel process) and mixed oxide route, respectively. For both materials, the purity of powders drastically depends on the annealing conditions of the raw materials. Pu ...

Pressure-induced successive phase transitions of micro-, submicro-, and nanocrystalline NaNbO3 particles were investigated by high-pressure Raman spectroscopy. Microcrystalline NaNbO3, which stabilizes in an orthorhombic Pbcm structure at ambient pressure, ...

Low-dimensional materials are susceptible to electronic instabilities such as charge density waves (CDWs), originating from a divergence in the Lindhard electron response function, combined with a finite electron-phonon coupling strength. In this paper, we ...

We present a method to directly visualise a statistical analysis of skyrmion defect alignment at grain boundaries in the skyrmion host Cu2OSeO3. Using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy, we collected large data sets with several hundreds of frames co ...

Uniformly dispersed deposition of various nanoparticles (gold and silver of 20?50 nm) and nanowires (ZnO and VOx) on different surfaces (Si, GaAs, mica, and steel) was obtained by boiling colloid drops on preheated substrates. Our results suggest a deposit ...

Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are strong sorbents for organic micropollutants, but changing environmental conditions may alter the distribution and bioavailability of the sorbed substances. Therefore, we investigated the effect of green algae (Chlorella vulgaris) ...

Junctions between n-type semiconductors of different electron affinity show rectification if the junction is abrupt enough. With the advent of 2D materials, we are able to realize thin van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures based on a large diversity of mate ...

The present paper reports on an experimental investigation of the structural, electrical and optical properties of Ru rich Ru1-xTixO2 thin films. Rutile single-phaseRu(1-x)Ti(x)O(2) thin films have been deposited by reactive hybrid High-power impulse magne ...

The electrochemical polymerization of diphenylamine (DPA) onto electrodes of Pt coated with highly separated metallic (98%) or semiconducting (99%) single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in the presence of H3PW12O40 was performed by cyclic voltammetry in ...

The present study reports on the preparation and structural characterization of dense NaNbO3 ceramics with ultrafine grain size. Nanocrystalline raw powders obtained via microemulsion mediated synthesis were consolidated to green compacts, sinterforged to ...

We have attempted to prepare graphene samples by mechanical exfoliation of HOPG (highly oriented pyrolytic graphite) using scotch tape. Random testing of the flakes by AFM has shown in majority single layer graphene. Nevertheless, the presence of ultrathin ...

Using superconducting quantum interference device magnetometry techniques, we have studied the change in magnetization versus applied ac electric field, i.e. the magnetoelectric (ME) susceptibility dM/dE, in the chiral-lattice ME insulator Cu2OSeO3. Measur ...

Easy immobilisation of carbon nanofillers in a solid state device featuring mesopores filled with ionic liquid (IL) is presented. Such a route allows a good dispersion of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon fibers in N-methyl-N-propylpyrrolidinium bis(trifl ...

The novel iridate Ba8Al2IrO14 was prepared as single crystals by self-flux method, thereby providing a rare example of an all-Ir(VI) compound that can be synthesized under ambient pressure conditions. The preparation of all-Ir6+ iridate without using tradi ...

We report electrical conductivity measurements of polymethyl-methacrylate filled by onion-like carbon particles with a primary particle size of approximate to 5 nm. We show that the conductivity sigma is exceptionally high even at very low loadings and tha ...

Surfaces – by breaking bulk symmetries, introducing roughness, or hosting defects – can significantly influence magnetic order in magnetic materials. Determining their effect on the complex nanometer-scale phases present in certain non-centrosymmetric magn ...

In nodal-line semimetals, linearly dispersing states form Dirac loops in the reciprocal space with a high degree of electron-hole symmetry and a reduced density of states near the Fermi level. The result is reduced electronic screening and enhanced correla ...

Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are more and more likely to be present in the environment, where they, will associate with organic raicropollutants due to strong sorption. The toxic effects of these CNT-micropollutant mixtures on aquatic organisms are poorly charac ...

This study introduces bis[hexakis(nitrato-κ2 O,O′)lanthanum(III)] tris[hexaaquanickel(II)] hexahydrate, [La(NO3)6]2[Ni(H2O)6]3·6H2O, with a structure refined in the hexagonal space group R . The salt comprises [La(NO3)6]3- icosahedra and [Ni(H2O) ...

Electron microscopy (TEM) and electron spin resonance ESR) were applied to characterize lanthanum metallofullerene(La@C82)-filled peapods. The peapods were prepared by encapsulation of La@C82 in SWCNTs, which were obtained by laser ablation technique in th ...
