Due to environmental concerns and strict constraints on interference imposed on other networks, the radiated power of emerging pervasive wireless networks needs to be strictly limited, yet without sacrificing acceptable data rates. Pulsed Time-Hopping Ultr ...

We consider the problem of broadcasting in an ad hoc wireless network, where all nodes of the network are sources that want to transmit information to all other nodes. Our figure of merit is energy efficiency, a critical design parameter for wireless net- ...

We present an architecture for implementing a wireless physical layer in a packet-based network simulator. We integrate this architecture in the popular ns-2 network simulator and use it to implement an impulse-radio ultra-wide band (IR-UWB) physical layer ...

We consider the problem of finding the minimum number of transmissions in an ad-hoc network for all-to-all broadcasting using network coding. This work generalizes previous results for canonical topologies such as the circle and the wrap around grid to the ...

We consider the design of the MAC layer for low power, low data-rate, impulse-radio ultra-wide band (IR-UWB) networks. In such networks, the primary concern is energy consumption rather than rate efficiency. We explore several dimensions such as power cont ...

Wireless routing based on an embedding of the connectivity graph is a very promising technique to overcome shortcomings of geographic routing and topology-based routing. This is of particular interest when either absolute coordinates for geographic routing ...

We are interested in the design of physical-layer aware medium access control (PHY-aware MAC) for self-organized, low power, low data-rate impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) networks. In such networks, energy consumption is much more of a concern than a ...

We consider the problem of broadcasting in an ad-hoc wireless network, where all nodes of the network are sources that want to transmit information to all other nodes. Our figure of merit is energy efficiency, a critical design parameter for wireless netwo ...

Network coding is a new research area that may have interesting applications in practical networking systems. With network coding, intermediate nodes may send out packets that are linear combinations of previously received information. There are two main b ...

Some forms of ad-hoc networks need to operate in extremely performance- challenged environments where end-to-end connectivity is rare. Such environments can be found for example in very sparse mobile networks where nodes ”meet” only occasionally and are ab ...

We show that network coding allows to realize energy savings in a wireless ad-hoc network, when each node of the network is a source that wants to transmit information to all other nodes. Energy efficiency directly affects battery life and thus is a critic ...
