Progress in mobile wireless technology has resulted in the increased use of mobile devices to store and manage users' personal schedules. Users also access popular context-based services, typically provided by third-party providers, by using these devices ...

Vehicular Networks (VNs) are emerging, among civilian applications, as a convincing instantiation of the mobile networking technology. However, security is a critical factor and a significant challenge to be met. Misbehaving or faulty network nodes have to ...

Location privacy is a major concern in an increasingly connected and highly pervasive network of mobile users. Novel location-based applications and device-to-device services (on these mobile devices) are gaining popularity, but at the same time, these ser ...

Wireless network operators increasingly deploy WiFi hotspots and low-power, low-range base stations in order to satisfy users' growing demands for context-aware services and performance. In addition to providing better service, such capillary infrastructur ...

Location-Sharing-Based Services (LSBS) complement Location-Based Services by using locations from a group of users, and not just individuals, to provide some contextualized service based on the locations in the group. However, there are growing concerns ab ...

Mobile devices are increasingly being used to store and manage users' personal information, as well as to access popular third-party context-based services. Very often, these applications need to determine common availabilities among a set of user schedule ...

Significant progress has been made towards making ad hoc networks secure and DoS resilient. However, little attention has been focused on quantifying DoS resilience: Do ad hoc networks have sufficiently redundant paths and counter-DoS mechanisms to make Do ...

IEEE 802.11 is currently the most deployed wireless local area networkingstandard. It uses carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) to resolve contention between nodes. Contention windows (CW) change dynamically to adapt to the cont ...

IEEE 802.11 works properly only if the stations respect the MAC protocol. We show in this paper that a greedy user can substantially increase his share of bandwidth, at the expense of the other users, by slightly modifying the driver of his network adapter ...

Disk, file, and database encryption are technologies that protect data confidentiality when stored. Full disk encryption encrypts all data on a disk except the part containing the code to unlock the rest of the disk, which is usually not encrypted. File-ba ...

Zero-knowledge proofs are techniques to verify claims without revealing the information itself. In this process, a "prover" shares proof of their claim with a "verifier, " who then verifies the accuracy of the proof without learning any additional informat ...

The aim of the present invention is to provide a method to detect misbehavior use of the IEEE 802.11 standard without modifying the standard itself. This aim is reached according to a method for detecting misbehavior in a contention based communication net ...
