Results of the first gyrokinetic simulations of the TCV pedestal are presented. Two discharges at varying levels of gas puffing are considered as input parameters for the local GENE simulations. Linear and nonlinear simulations are carried out for electron ...

The link between toroidal flows and density blobs is experimentally demonstrated in TORPEX simple magnetized plasmas: momentum is transferred from an ideal-interchange mode to density blobs. The phase shift between the toroidal flow and the density perturb ...

An ELMy H-mode 'snowflake' (SF) divertor is established and studied for the first time in the TCV tokamak. The H-mode access and the edge localized mode (ELM) dynamics are compared with a conventional single-null diverted configuration. The SF configuratio ...

The radial propagation of blobs generated from plasma instabilities is investigated in an open magnetic field line configuration. Blob cross-field velocities and sizes are obtained from internal probe measurements using pattern recognition. By varying the ...

A method is presented to construct object-related structure observables, such as size, mass, shape, and trajectories from two-dimensional plasma imaging data. The probability distributions of these observables, deduced from measurements of many realization ...
