Acoustic tomography aims at recovering the unknown parameters that describe a field of interest by studying the physical characteristics of sound propagating through the considered field. The tomographic approach is appealing in that it is non-invasive and ...

We study the problem of A/D conversion and error-rate dependence of a class of non-bandlimited signals which have a finite rate of innovation, particularly, a continuous periodic stream of Diracs, characterized by a finite set of time positions and weights ...

We propose a new method for imaging sound speed in breast tissue from measurements obtained by ultrasound tomography (UST) scan- ners. Given the measurements, our algorithm finds a sparse image representation in an overcomplete dictionary that is adapted t ...

Acoustic tomography is a type of inverse problem. The idea of estimating physical quantities that influence sound propagation by measuring the parameters of propagation has proven to be successful in many practical domains, including temperature and wind e ...

Accurate calibration is a requirement of many array signal processing techniques. We investigate the calibration of a transducer array using time delays. We derive a strategy based on the mean square error criterion and discuss how time delays that are not ...

A major limitation of thermal therapies is the lack of detailed thermal information needed to monitor the therapy. Temperatures are routinely measured invasively with thermocouples, but only sparse measurements can be made. Ultrasound tomography is an attr ...

We consider localized instantaneous sources that reside in a 2D dif- fusive environment. Our goal is to reconstruct the induced field from the measurements obtained by distributed sensors. Although the field is non-bandlimited, we capitalize on the fact th ...

We present preliminary results obtained using a time domain wave-based reconstruction algorithm for an ultrasound transmission tomography scanner with a circular geometry. While a comprehensive description of this type of algorithm has already been given e ...

How often have you been able to implement an algorithm as it is described in a paper? And when you did, were you confident that you had exactly the same parameter values and results as the authors of the paper? All too often, articles do not describe all t ...

We present a bent ray reconstruction algorithm for an ultrasound tomography (UT) scanner designed for breast screening. The scanner consists of a circular array of transmitters and receivers which encloses the object to be imaged. By solving a nonlinear sy ...

We study an acoustic tomography problem and propose a new inversion technique based on sparsity. Acoustic tomography observes the parameters of the medium that influence the speed of sound propagation. In the human body, the parameters that mostly influenc ...

It is disclosed an acoustic tomography method to improve the time of flight estimation, said method comprising the steps of: sequentially triggering a set of N transmitters so as to generate a sequence of N acoustic waves through a volume being scanned; re ...

We consider the problem of reconstructing superimposed temperature and wind flow fields from acoustic measurements. A new technique based solely on acoustic wave propagation is presented. In contrast to the usual straight ray assumption, a bent ray model i ...
