Functional connectivity (FC) between brain regions as manifested via fMRI entails signatures that can be used to differentiate individuals and decode cognitive tasks. In this work, we use methods from graph structure inference to estimate FC, which is in c ...

Mitochondria in intact cells maintain low

Na ^{ + }

levels despite the large electrochemical gradient favoring cation influx into the matrix. In addition, they display individual spontaneous transient depolarizations. We report here that individual mit ...

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has revolutionized the investigation of brain function. Similar approaches can be translated to probe spinal mechanisms. However, imaging the spinal cord remains challenging, notably due to its size and location ...

The functional properties of resting brain activity are poorly understood, but have generally been related to self-monitoring and introspective processes. Here we investigated how emotionally positive and negative information differentially influenced subs ...

Neonatal intensive care units are willing to apply environmental enrichment via music for preterm newborns. However, no evidence of an effect of music on preterm brain development has been reported to date. Using resting-state fMRI, we characterized a circ ...

The measurement of brain activity in a noninvasive way is an essential element in modern neurosciences. Modalities such as electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) recently gained interest, but two classical techniques remain predomina ...

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging (MRSI) is a promising and developing tool in medical imaging. Because of various difficulties imposed by the imperfections of the scanner and the reconstruction algorithms, its applicability in clinical practice is r ...

The “Marr wavelet pyramid” is a wavelet decomposition that implements a multiscale version of the complex gradient-Laplace operator. It is closely linked to a multiresolution analysis of

Neurofeedback has begun to attract the attention and scrutiny of the scientific and medical mainstream. Here, neurofeedback researchers present a consensus-derived checklist that aims to improve the reporting and experimental design standards in the field. ...

We advocate the use of a novel compressed sensing technique for accelerating the magnetic resonance image acquisition process, coined spread spectrum MR imaging or simply s2MRI. The method resides in pre-modulating the signal of interest by a linear chirp, ...

The analysis of signals on complex topologies modeled by graphs is a topic of increasing importance. Decompositions play a crucial role in the representation and processing of such information. Here, we propose a new tight frame design that is adapted to a ...

The authors used resting-state fMRI in a prospective study to compare whole-brain functional connectivity between patients with good and poor outcomes, implementing support vector machine learning. They automatically predicted coma outcome using resting-st ...

Neural markers of visual function in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) allow clinicians and researchers to directly evaluate the functional changes in visual processing which occur as a result of the progressive loss of afferent input from the macula. ...

Background: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the current standard treatment for chronic severe tinnitus; however, preliminary evidence suggests that real-time functional MRI (fMRI) neurofeedback therapy may be more effective. Purpose: To compare the e ...

Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH)-the leading cause of reversible dementia in aging-is characterized by ventriculomegaly and gait, cognitive and urinary impairments. Despite its high prevalence estimated at 6% among the elderlies, iNPH remain ...

We provide a method for constructing regular sampling lattices in arbitrary dimensions together with an integer dilation matrix. Subsampling using this dilation matrix leads to a similarity-transformed version of the lattice with a chosen density reduction ...

Purpose: As prescribed and reliable geometrical entities, phantoms have served as indispensable validation tools in a variety of MR-related topics. Though a number of phantoms have been conceived, certain applications may warrant highly customized geometri ...

Functional connectivity analysis of fMRI data can reveal synchronised activity between anatomically distinct brain regions. Here, we extract the characteristic connectivity signatures of different brain states to perform classification, allowing us to deco ...

Dynamics of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) provide a new window onto the organizational principles of brain function. Using state-of-the-art signal processing techniques, we extract innovation-driven co-activation patterns (iCAP ...
