Active cancer targeting consists of the selective recognition of overexpressed biomarkers on cancer cell surfaces or within the tumor microenvironment, enabled by ligands conjugated to drug carriers. Nanoparticle (NP)-based systems are highly relevant for ...

Changes in the glycosylation pattern of cellular glycoproteins constitute a hallmark in human cancer and influence tumour progression, suggesting that inhibitors of selected glycosidases may control cancer invasion. Following the studies on swainsonine, a ...

New pyrrolidine-3,4-diol derivatives were prepared from D-(-)- and L(+)-phenylglycinol and tested for their ability to inhibit 25 commercial glycosidases. The influence of the substitution of the lateral side chain and of the pyrrolidine ring on the enzyme ...

Aminoglycosides are powerful antibiotics, but the emergence of resistant bacterial strains has prompted the search for analogues with better pharmacological profiles. The synthesis of 2-deoxystreptamine (2-DOS) dimers linked by polyamines and analogues bas ...

The present invention relates to a functionalized hydrogel network grafted with at least one moiety for use in numerous fields, from cosmetics to surgery and medicine. ...

A straightforward approach to macrocyclic structures containing deoxysugar subunits was developed through the functionalization of a bishemiketal. The choice of the length and the nature of the linkers can provide macrocycles with diverse rigidities and po ...

To control the selective adhesion of human endothelial cells and human serum proteins to bioceramics of different compositions, a multifunctional ligand containing a cyclic arginine-glycine-aspartate (RGD) peptide, a tetraethylene glycol spacer, and a gall ...

Despite their high sensitivity and their suitability for miniaturization, biosensors are still limited for clinical applications due to the lack of reproducibility and specificity of their detection performance. The design and preparation of sensing surfac ...

Bone substitute materials allowing trans-scaffold migration and in-scaffold survival of human bone-derived cells are mandatory for development of cell-engineered permanent implants to repair bone defects. In this study, we evaluated the influence on human ...

New pathways toward the synthesis of polyketide-like macrolides have been developed through the functionalization of long chain polyolic fragments readily obtained from 3,3'-methylenebis{[6-(benzyloxy)methoxy]cyclohept-3-en-1-ol} derivatives 6. This synthe ...

The present invention provides compounds suitable for functionalizing biomaterials, in particular prosthetics and implant materials, functionalized biomaterials, and methods for synthesizing the compound. The compounds contain an anchoring group, a group f ...

New 2-benzylamino-3,4-dihydroxypyrrolidines bearing aromatic and aliphatic amido side chains have been prepared. The influence of the amido substituents on the inhibitory activity of these diamines toward 24 commercially available glycosidases was determin ...

The asymmetric synthesis of long chain di- and tri-amino polyols is reported. The developed methodology is based on the functionalization of 3,3'-methylenebis{[6-(benzyloxy)methoxy]cyclohept-3-en-1-ol} derivatives that allows the selective introduction of ...
