As quantum processors grow in complexity, attention is moving to the scaling prospects of the entire quantum computing system, including the classical support hardware. Recent results in high-fidelity control of individual spins in silicon, combined with d ...

In this article, we present 10 mu m diameter SPADs fabricated in 110 nm CIS technology based on an N (+) /HVPW junction, with enhanced sensitivity at short wavelengths. To reduce tunneling noise due to the highly-doped layers in the process, a doping compe ...

We report on a new single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) fabricated in a 130 nm CMOS imaging process. A novel circular structure combining shallow trench isolation (STI) and a passivation implant creates an effective guard ring against premature edge breakd ...

In this paper a Multi-Level Feature Matching (MLFM) method is presented for 3D hand posture reconstruction of a virtual keyboard system. The human hand is modeled with a mixture of different levels of detail, from skeletal to polygonal surface representati ...

Diffuse Correlation Spectroscopy (DCS) allows the optical and label-free investigation of microvascular dynamics. Commonly, DCS is implemented with highly sensitive and ultra fast single-photon avalanche diodes (SPAD) for blood flow measurements from aroun ...

A solid-state imager fabricated in CMOS technology is presented for depth information capture of arbitrary 3D objects with millimeter resolution. The system is based on an array of 32x32 pixels that independently measure the time-of-flight of a ray of ligh ...

We report on a new single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) fabricated in a 130nm CMOS imaging process. A novel circular structure combining shallow trench isolation (STI) and a passivation implant creates an effective guard ring against premature edge breakdo ...

Fluorescence surgical navigation helps surgeons to see molecular information about tissue near the surface and distinguish malignancies from healthy tissue. It is possible to label tumors with specific fluorescent molecules, but not to easily see into tiss ...

MALTA is a depleted monolithic active pixel sensor (DMAPS) developed in the Tower Semiconductor 180-nm CMOS imaging process. Monolithic CMOS sensors offer advantages over current hybrid imaging sensors in terms of both increased tracking performance due to ...

In this paper, a 3D hand model fitting method is presented which can recover the accurate finger positions for a virtual keyboard system. The 3D hand model consists of a detailed polygonal skin driven by an underlying skeleton system. The system uses a str ...

Reprogrammable integrated optics provides a natural platform for tunable quantum photonic circuits, but faces challenges when high dimensions and high connectivity are involved. Here, we implement high-dimensional linear transformations on spatial modes of ...

Cryogenic classical electronics for the control of qubits can be placed near quantum processors for a more compact system, ultimately enabling a highly scalable one. However, cryogenic operation poses very strict power requirements on electronics, in addit ...

Quantum computers hold the promise to solve some of the most complex problems of today. The core of a quantum computer is a quantum processor, which is composed of quantum bits (qubits). Qubits are fragile and their state needs to be corrected in real time ...

This paper presents a charge-sampling PLL (CSPLL), that demonstrates the best reported jitter-power FOM of -258.9 dB thanks to its high phase-detection gain and to the removal of the power-hungry buffer driving the phase detector. It also achieves -65 dBc ...

Accurate and low-noise generation and amplification of microwave signals are required for the manipulation and readout of quantum bits (qubits). A fault-tolerant quantum computer operates at deep cryogenic temperatures (i.e.,

The Piccolo gated sensor features a 32x32 SPAD array of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) operating in time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC). The chip enables event-driven readout and a maximum count rate of 220 Mcps. The sensor is based on t ...

In this article, a cryo-CMOS receiver integrated with a frequency synthesizer for scalable multiplexed readout of qubits is presented, focusing on radio frequency (RF) reflectometry readout of silicon-based semiconductor spin qubits/quantum dots. The propo ...

A method for controlling the spectral response of light sensitive semiconductor elements in an array (8) using an electric control signal (Vop) applied to said semiconductor elements. The light sensitive semiconductor elements could be a single photon aval ...

In this paper, we present the first CMOS SPAD with performance comparable or better than that of the best custom SPADs, to date. The SPAD-based design, fully integrated in 180 nm CMOS technology, achieves a peak PDP of 55% at 480nm with a very broad spectr ...

The SPADnet FP7 European project is aimed at a new generation of fully digital, scalable and networked photonic components to enable large area image sensors, with primary target gamma-ray and coincidence detection in (Time-of-Flight) Positron Emission Tom ...
