Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) is a noninvasive optical imaging technique that provides quantitative phase images of living cells. In a recent study, we showed that the quantitative monitoring of the phase signal by DHM was a simple label-free method ...

We present in this PhD thesis work various applications of digital holographic microscopy (DHM), an imaging technique based on coherent illumination which enables the recovery of the full complex wavefront, i.e. the amplitude and phase of a wave field whic ...

The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus to compute a complex wavefield, referred to as the object wave o, by means of measuring the intensity signal resulting from the interference of the said object wave with a second wave termed the ref ...

Optical second harmonic generation, thanks to its coherent nature, is a suitable signal for interferometric measurements, such as digital holography: a well-established imaging technique that allows recovering complex diffraction wavefields from which it i ...

To evaluate the severity of airway pathologies, quantitative dimensioning of airways is of utmost importance. Endoscopic vision gives a projective image and thus no true scaling information can be directly deduced from it. In this article, an approach base ...

We propose a Riesz transform approach to the demodulation of digital holograms. The Riesz transform is a higher-dimensional extension of the Hilbert transform and is steerable to a desired orientation. Accurate demodulation of the hologram requires a relia ...

The present invention discloses a method to improve the image resolution of a microscope. This improvement is based on the mathematical processing of the complex field computed from the measurements with a microscope of the wave emitted or scattered by the ...

We report the experimental observation of systematically occurring phase singularities in coherent imaging of sub-Rayleigh distanced objects. A theory that relates the observation to the sub-Rayleigh distance is presented and compared with experimental mea ...

The authors have developed a live-cell multimodality microscope combining epifluorescence with digital holographic microscopy; it has been implemented with a decoupling procedure allowing to separately measure from the quantitative phase important cell par ...

We present first results on a method enabling mechanical scanning-free tomography with submicrometer axial resolution by multiple-wavelength digital holographic microscopy. By sequentially acquiring reflection holograms and summing 20 wavefronts equally sp ...

We introduce a microscopic method that determines quantitative optical properties beyond the optical diffraction limit and allows direct imaging of unstained living biological specimens. In established holographic microscopy, complex fields are measured us ...

The disclosed invention describes a new apparatus performing a new data acquisition for quantitative refractive index tomography. It is based on a linear scanning of the specimen, opposed to the classical approaches based on rotations of either the sample ...

In this work, we demonstrate single-shot, simultaneous recording and subsequent retrieval of one incoherent and two holographic (intensity and phase) images from the same camera frame. Demultiplexing of incoherent and holographic signals in the spatial fre ...

In this article we present a method to achieve tri-dimensional contouring of macroscopic objects. A modified reference wave speckle interferometer is used in conjunction with a source of reduced coherence. The depth signal is given by the envelope of the i ...

Background: Digital holography provides a non-invasive measurement of the quantitative phase shifts induced by cells in culture, which can be related to cell volume changes. It has been shown previously that regulation of cell volume, in particular as it r ...

This paper presents an optical diffraction tomography technique based on digital holographic microscopy. Quantitative 2-dimensional phase images are acquired for regularly-spaced angular positions of the specimen covering a total angle of π, allowing to bu ...

Based on truncated inverse filtering, a theory for deconvolution of complex fields is studied. The validity of the theory is verified by comparing with experimental data from digital holographic microscopy (DHM) using a high-NA system (NA=0.95). Comparison ...

We address the problem of exact complex-wave reconstruction in digital holography. We show that, by confining the object-wave modulation to one quadrant of the frequency domain, and by maintaining a reference-wave intensity higher than that of the object, ...

Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) is an interferometric technique that allows real-time imaging of the entire complex optical wavefront (amplitude and phase) reflected by or transmitted through a sample. To our knowledge, only the quantitative phase is ...

A recurrent problem in microscopy is the finite depth-of-focus linked to the NA of microscope objectives. Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) has the unique feature of being able to numerically change the focus from a single hologram without the need of m ...
