The performance of tokamaks is usually described in terms of plasma temperature, density and confinement time. The term temperature implies that the plasma is in thermal equilibrium and its particles have maxwellian (normal) velocity distribution. However, ...

On the Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV), electron internal transport barriers (eITBs) can be formed during a gradual evolution from a centrally peaked to a hollow current profile while all external actuators are held constant. The formation occurs ra ...

Electron cyclotron emission (ECE) diagnostics on Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV) allow study of the electron temperature evolution in time with good spatial and temporal resolution at the high field side and low field side at various lines of sight. ...

Electron cyclotron (EC) emission (ECE) radiometers viewing perpendicular to the magnetic field are common on nearly all tokamaks for measuring the electron temperature with good spatio-temporal resolution. Two such radiometers are installed on TCV, one loo ...

Deposition of electron cyclotron waves at high-power densities for heating and current drive in a tokamak plasma generates a population of fast electrons and therefore the velocity distribution of the electron population will deviate from a Maxwellian. Apa ...

Electron cyclotron emission (ECE) measurements are an important component of the diagnostic suite on the Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV) [F. Hoffman , Plasma Phys. Controlled Fusion 36, B277 (1994)]. A recently installed, 24-channel dual-conversion ...

Electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) is a mature technology that has progressed constantly over a period of forty years, particularly as a tool in magnetic confinement fusion. As with other heating methods, this technique has seen a steady increase ...

The acceleration of electrons during a sawtooth crash is demonstrated in various regimes of the TCV tokamak plasma. Simultaneous measurements of electron cyclotron emission from the low field side and from the high field side of the tokamak provide informa ...

This paper reports on the first demonstration of electron Bernsteinwave heating (EBWH) by double mode conversion from ordinary (O-) to Bernstein (B-) via the extraordinary (X-) mode in an over-dense tokamak plasma, using low field side launch, achieved in ...
