The emerging field of spintronics explores the many possibilities offered by the prospect of using the spin of the electrons for fast, nanosized electronic devices. The effect of magnetization acting on a current is the essence of giant or tunnel magnetore ...

The existence of a heat-driven spin torque is demonstrated using Co/Cu/Co spin valves embedded in metallic nanowires. Heat currents flowing in one direction or its opposite were obtained by heating optically one end or the other of the nanowires. The spin ...

Spin-dependent transport properties of nanowires containing individual Co/Cu/Co pseudo-spin valves were investigated by monitoring an AC voltage induced by a temperature oscillation under a continuous DC current. We observed sharp peaks in the field-depend ...

The mixed effects of heat and charge transports have been studied at room temperature for NiCu and CoCu multilayers with currents perpendicular to the interfaces as well as Ni and Co homogeneous nanowires. In order to carry out this analysis, magnetothermo ...

In this work, we report thermoelectric measurements on electroplated bismuth telluride nanowires. Porous polycarbonate membranes, obtained by ion-track irradiation lithography, were chosen as electroplating templates. Bismuth telluride nanowires were achie ...

Spin-dependent transport in granular metallic nanostructures has been investigated by means of a thermoelectric measurement. Cobalt clusters of well-defined size ( = 15 and 600), embedded in copper and silver matrices, show magnetic field responses of u ...

The spin transfer torque model applied in the context of a Fokker-Planck analysis (Li and Zhang 2004 Phys. Rev. B 69 134416) is shown to account for a complete set of statistical data for switching times obtained with pseudo spin-valves (Fabian et al 2003 ...

Heat and charge transport perpendicular to the plan in five Co/Cu stacks are studied using AC temperature gradients in the presence of a DC current. Large peaks in AC voltage response versus applied field are observed. This effect, measured only in reversi ...

We report charge trapping effects in a ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)As thin film observed during measurements of the photovoltage under inhomogeneous illumination conditions. Using a laser diode as the excitation source, the temperature-dependent response has been ...

We report on the structural, magnetic, optical and transport properties of As-doped Zn0.9Co0.1O thin films. X-ray diffraction indicates highly (0 0 0 1) textured samples free of secondary phases. Transmission UV-Vis spectroscopy shows that Co is in the +2 ...

Spin-dependent transport properties of magnetic nanostructures have been investigated by means of magneto-thermogalvanic voltage measurements: the ac voltage response to an ac temperature oscillation is measured for various magnetic nanostructures under dc ...
