The flow pattern based flow boiling heat transfer and two-phase pressure drop models for CO2, recently developed by Cheng et al. [L Cheng, G. Ribatski. J. Moreno Quiben, J.R. Thome, New prediction methods for CO2 evaporation inside tubes: Part I - A two-phase flow pattern map and a flow pattern based phenomenological model for two-phase flow frictional pressure drops, Int. J. Heat Mass transfer 51 (2008) 111-124; L Cheng, G. Ribatski, J.R. Thome, New prediction methods for CO2 evaporation inside tubes: Part

The study considers the prediction of pressure gradients in adiabatic gas-liquid annular two-phase flow in the macro-to-microscale range Twenty-four empirical correlations have been tested against an experimental data bank drawn together in this study cont ...

This article presents an experimental study of upward flow boiling heat transfer in multiport tubes. Usually, multiport tubes are utilized horizontally in automotive and air-conditioning systems while here there is interest in vertical flow as part of a two-phase thermosyphon electronics cooling system. Experiments were carried out in a flat aluminum extruded multiport tube, which was composed of 7 parallel rectangular channels (1.1mm × 2.1mm) with a hydraulic diameter of 1.4 mm. Two refrigerants, R245fa an

Advances in the development of micro- and nanostructured surfaces have enabled tremendous progress in delineation of mechanisms in boiling heat transfer and have propelled the rapid enhancement of heat transfer rates. This area of research is poised to mak ...

Experiments of flow boiling heat transfer were conducted in four horizontal flattened smooth copper tubes of two different heights of 2 and 3 mm. The equivalent diameters of the flattened tubes are 8.6, 7.17, 6.25, and 5.3 mm. The working fluids were R22 a ...

The present study focused on improving the thermal performance of CO2 evaporators while reducing their volume and thus significantly reducing the working fluid charge. To achieve this, the leading two-phase flow pattern and physically-based prediction mode ...

The study considers algebraic turbulence modeling in adiabatic gas-liquid annular two-phase flow. After reviewing the existing literature, two new algebraic turbulence models are proposed for both the liquid film and the droplet laden gas core of annular t ...
