Titanium dioxide (anatase, rutile) and quasi-amorphous tin dioxide are prepared on F-doped SnO2 in the form of dense thin films, which can serve as electron-selective layers in perovskite solar cells and dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The present stud ...

Black-phase formamidinium lead iodide (α-FAPbI3) perovskites are the desired phase for photovoltaic applications, but water can trigger formation of photoinactive impurity phases such as δ-FAPbI3. We show that the classic solvent system for perovskite fabr ...

The organic small molecule 4,4',4",4"'-(5,5-dimethoxycyclopenta-1,3-diene-1,2,3,4-tetrayl)tetrakis(N,N-bis(4-methoxyhenyl)aniline (CPDA 1), shows electrochemical properties very close to spiro-OMeTAD indicating a high compatibility with PSC systems for its ...

The temperature dependence of the principal photovoltaic parameters of perovskite photovoltaics is studied. The recombination activation energy is in good agreement with the perovskite's bandgap energy, thereby placing an upper bound on the open-circuit vo ...

Engineering at interface between perovskite and charge transport layers is crucial for improving operational stability. In inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a core configuration of HTL/perovskite/ETL/HBL (HTL = hole transporting layer; ETL = electron transporting layer; HBL = hole blocking layer), the interfaces at ETL based on phenyl‐C 61 ‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) are more defective due to its molecular geometry, leading to imperfect adhesion. We introduce the dual interlayer passivation

To develop photosensitizers with high open-circuit photovoltage (Voc) is a crucial strategy to enhance the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of co-sensitized solar cells. Here, we show a judiciously tailored organic photosensitizer, coded MS5, featuring th ...

The high-molar-extinction-coefficient heteroleptic ruthenium aye, cis-Ru (4,4'-bis(5-octylthieno[3,2-b] thiophen-2-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine) (4,4'-dicarboxyl-2,2'-bipyridine) (NCS)(2), exhibits an AM 1.5 solar (100 mW cm(-2))-to-electric power-conversion effici ...

Efficient dye-sensitized solar cells are based on highly diffusive mesoscopic layers that render these devices opaque and unsuitable for ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy measurements in transmission mode. We developed a novel sub-200 femtosecond time-resolved diffuse reflectance spectroscopy scheme combined with potentiostatic control to study various solar cells in fully operational condition. We studied performance optimized devices based on liquid redox electrolytes and opaque TiO2 films, as w

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as a potential candidate for high efficiency low-cost photovoltaic technology. However, the intrinsic and interfacial responses of PSCs under photo and bias-induced degradation and recovery have not been clearly u ...

Binary melts of S-ethyltetrahydrothiophenium iodide and dicyanoamide (or tricyanomethide) have been employed for dye-sensitized solar cells with high power conversion efficiencies up to 6.9% under the illumination of AM 1.5G full sunlight. We have further ...

Surface passivation treatment is a widely used strategy to resolve trap-mediated nonradiative recombination toward high-efficiency metal-halide perovskite photovoltaics. However, a lack of passivation with mixture treatment has been investigated, as well a ...

We report on the optimization of the interfacial properties of titania in mesoscopic CH3NH3PbI3 solar cells. Modification of the mesoporous TiO2 film by TiCl4 treatment substantially reduced the surface traps, as is evident from the sharpness of the absorp ...

Host-guest complexation offers a promising approach for mitigating surface defects in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Crown ethers are the most widely used macrocyclic hosts for complexing perovskite surfaces, yet their supramolecular interactions and funct ...

The phase diagram of the redox active ionic liquid 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium iodide (PMII) is examined as a function of temperature and iodine concentration. Beyond a threshold concentration of 3.9 M, the formation of higher polyiodides gives rise to a ...

Metal halide to perovskite phase conversion is a facile approach for synthesizing high-quality perovskite semiconductors for optoelectronic applications. Here, these reactions are investigated at the nanoscale via in-situ x-ray scattering, revealing links ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with efficiencies greater than 20% have been realized only with expensive organic hole-transporting materials. We demonstrate PSCs that achieve stabilized efficiencies exceeding 20% with copper(I) thiocyanate (CuSCN) as the ho ...

This paper presents an overview of the research carried out by a European consortium with the aim to develop and test new and improved ways to realise dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) with enhanced efficiencies and stabilities. Several new areas have been ...

Stabilized power output at maximum power point (mpp) has been considered as one of the most reliable parameters as it provides a key performance indicator for perovskite solar cells (PSCs) revealing the operational stability of the photovoltaic device. Her ...

A series of two-dimensionally expanded azulenecore- based pi systems have been synthesized with different alkyl chain lengths in the alkoxy moieties connected to the partially oxygen-bridged triarylamine skeletons. The thermal, photophysical, and electroni ...

Three new triethoxysilanes bearing quaternary ammonium alkyl iodides are reported, N,N,N-triethyl-3-(triethoxysilyl)propan-1-aminium iodide 1, N,N,N-triheptyl-3-(triethoxysilyl)propan-1-aminium iodide 2 and N,N,N-tridodecyl-3-(triethoxysilyl)propan-1-amini ...
