Dielectric elastomer generators (DEGs) are flexible capacitors that convert mechanical into electrical energy. They rely on an external voltage source to charge the capacitor during each operation cycle. An alternative to this is an autonomous DEG which op ...

Ultrathin bilayer heterojunction solar cells using cyanine electron donors and electron acceptor C-60 are used to fabricate monolithically stacked tandem and triple junction devices. Sub-cell stack sequences as well as C-60 layer thicknesses are optimized ...

Designing lightweight nanostructured aerogels for high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding is crucial yet challenging. Ultrathin cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) are employed for assisting in building ultralow-density, robust, and highly f ...

Customizable solar cells are required for aesthetic indoor and outdoor photovoltaic deployment as well as for the freedom of design of small and portable power supplies. We demonstrate that drop on demand inkjet printing can be used for the fabrication of ...

Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) generate motion resembling natural muscles in reliability, adaptability, elongation, and frequency of operation. They are highly attractive in implantable soft robots or artificial organs. However, many applications of ...

Elastomers based on cross-linked bottlebrush polymers combine an extreme softness at low strains with a strain-stiffening effect, which makes them attractive as active components in dielectric elastomer actuators (DEA). Their main disadvantage concerns the ...

Supramolecular assemblies from organic dyes forming J-aggregates are known to exhibit narrowband photoluminescence with full-width at half maximum of approximate to 9 nm (260 cm(-1)). Applications of these high color purity emitters, however, are hampered ...

Shortwave infrared (SWIR) optical sensing and imaging are essential to an increasing number of next-generation applications in communications, process control or medical imaging. An all-organic SWIR upconversion device (OUC) consists of an organic SWIR sen ...

Already in 2012, Blom et al. reported (Nature Materials 2012, 11, 882) in semiconducting polymers on a general electron-trap density of approximate to 3 x 10(17) cm(-3), centered at an energy of approximate to 3.6 eV below vacuum. It was suggested that tra ...

Supramolecular assemblies with controlled morphology are of paramount importance for energy transport in organic semiconductors. Despite considerable freedom in molecular design, the preparation of dyes that form one dimensional J-aggregates is challenging ...

[Neo-classical] Tearing Modes ([N]TMs) control is crucial in high-energy devices like ITER due to the disruptions that may cause potential machine damage. This work presents a real-time [N]TM control strategy for the ITER Plasma Control System (PCS), aiming to predict [N]TMs present and their characteristics, and apply stabilization using Electron Cyclotron Heating (ECH). Key components of the [N]TM control scheme are a predictor with extended co-MRE solver, coupled mode width and frequency dynamics, and a

In light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs), the position of the emission zone (EZ) is not predefined via a multilayer architecture design, but governed by a complex motion of electrical and ionic charges. As a result of the evolution of doped charge tr ...

The investigation of the use of cyanine dyes in thin-film heterojunction photovoltaic devices was reported. It was shown that a carbocyanine dye acts as donor in conjunction with buckminsterfullerene (C60). Cyanine acts as acceptor when copoly(dicyano-phenylvinylene-triphenylamine) is used as donor. It was concluded that the electron energy levels of the frontier orbitals of the dye allow it to be used as donor and acceptor at the same time.

The J–V bump and hysteresis in perovskite solar cells are studied combining measurement and simulation, linking them to spatial collection efficiency changes from ionic charge accumulation, as visualised in external quantum efficiency (EQE) spectra. ...

A symmetrical trimethine indocyanine dye chromophore was modified with the bistriflylimide anion to study the changes in Coulomb interactions, thermal stability and the volatility of the organic salt. The bulky bistriflylimide anion minimizes electrostatic ...

Magnetic field effects on the conductivity of different types of organic devices: undoped and dye doped aluminium (III) 8-hydroxyquinoline (Alq3)-based organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), electrononly Alq3-based diodes, and a hole-only N,N'-diphenyl-N,N ...

Dataset underpinning the published article: Critical role of H-aggregation for high-efficiency photoinduced charge generation in pristine pentamethine cyanine salts Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 2021, 23, 23886-23895. DOI: 10.1039/D1CP03251H ...

A procedure for the infiltration of planar photonic crystals (PhCs) with liquid crystals (LCs) is presented. InP-based PhCs are infiltrated with the nematic LC-K15 in a specially designed high-vacuum chamber. The infiltration technique is validated and sys ...
