This paper presents an extended model for transient and ac circuit-level simulation of minority carriers propagation through the substrate of smart power integrated circuits (ICs). A p-n junction and a diffusion resistor with capacitive components are prop ...

In this paper a floating body partially depleted SOI MOSFET used to measure light intensity using the transient charge pumping [1] is modeled through an equivalent electrical circuit. Essentially, photogenerated charges of the MOSFET are converted into a c ...

This work concerns a dedicated mixed-signal power system dynamic simulator. The equations that describe the behavior of a power system can be decoupled in a large linear system that is handled by the analog part of the hardware, and a set of differential e ...

This paper presents a new approach for substrate parasitic current simulation in smart power integrated circuit. A new compact modeling approach developed in previous work has been used to create an equivalent substrate schematic. The latter is composed of new components having the peculiarity not to fully recombine minority carrier at their boundary. By the interconnection of these special components in the electrical design, the effect of substrate current is simulated. Having this information early in th

A low-power and low-voltage (LP/LV) RF front-end operating at 430MHz and implemented in a standard 0.5 mu m digital CMOS process is described. Specific LP/LV bias techniques and design tradeoffs are discussed and their application to the design of a fully integrated direct-conversion receiver is presented. The RF building blocks including a 200 mu A LNA, two different 50 mu A mixers and a ring-oscillator with differential I-Q outputs consuming 300 mu A at 430MHz, have been manufactured and their performance

Several Hall sensor configurations have been integrated in CMOS 0.35 mu m technology and analyzed in terms of offset at room temperature and offset drift. We searched for the best geometry that would minimize the offset and its corresponding drift. The tar ...

This paper analyzes some advantages of Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) based photodetectors for bioluminescence imaging. It shows that SOI based sensors not only solve the bulk carriers problem, it can also act as a very selective spectral filter by acting as a ...

This paper presents constraints involved in the microelectronic implementation of a transmission line model based on transconductor-capacitor (gm-C) topologies. The presented line model, based on the discretization of a transmission line into a finite numb ...

Multi-bit feedback, being one way of lowering ΔΣ modulators power consumption, has a major obstacle: the number of components in the internal analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Nevertheless, the number of comparators i ...

The Internet of Things market is experiencing a period of intense growth. From 7 to 10 billion of connected devices in 2013, it is expected to reach 26 to 30 billion in 2020. Smart buildings represent between 2 to 21% of this market. Indeed, the possibilit ...

Voltage regulator modules are dc-dc converters that power modern microprocessors. They must exhibit a fast dynamic response, in order to achieve satisfactory regulation performance in spite of the rapid load current variations. The pulsewidth modulator is ...

In this paper we present an RF PA employing an output impedance matching network of the pi-type, where an inductor is variable. In order to implement this tunable inductor, the coupled-inductor technique [1] is used. Although other techniques for inductor ...

This work reports on memory applications of punch-through impact ionization single-transistor latch (PIMOS), showing abrupt current switching (3-10mV/dec.) as well as hysteresis in both ID(VDS) and ID(VGS). A capacitor-less 1PIMOS - 1 MOSFET DRAM memory is ...

This paper reports on the fabrication, experimental characterization and data transmission application of a double-gate movable body FET. As its name suggests, the proposed movable-body Micro-Electro-Mechanical FET (MB-MEMFET) is a hybrid MEMS-semiconducto ...

This paper describes a mixed-platform framework dedicated to Dynamic Stability Assessment of power systems. DSA refers to tools capable of characterizing the dynamic stability of the system. Time domain simulation is critical for DSA analysis and is done by algorithms known as TD engines. In this work, operations are shared between a software platform and a hardware one. TD simulation is handled by a dedicated mixed-signal electronics implementation. Data flow control, user interfacing, configuration, resul

In high energy physics and space applications it becomes mandatory to solve specific problems concerning the power supply. In both cases, it exists a harsh radiation environment and the presence of external electromagnetic perturbations. The former prevent ...

This paper presents a new technique for continuously calibrating the sensitivity of a current measurement microsystem based on a Hall magnetic field sensor. An integrated reference coil generates a magnetic field for calibration. Using a variant of the cho ...

Harvesting energy from ambient energy sources, such as thermal gradients is one solution to address the dramatic increase in energy consumption of personal electronics. While in the field, energy abundantly available in form of heat. The use of primary cel ...

In a first aspect the invention provides a system that comprising a plurality of electronic modules, each one of the electronic modules configured for enabling automation of an electrical appliance to be connected to the electronic module. Each electronic ...

Quality and resolution of integrated microsystems using Hall sensors dedicated to an angular encoder are strongly dependent on the accuracy of the relative position of Hall sensors and on the offset of electronic front end circuitry. In this paper, we describe a CMOS microsystem built on two integrated circuits. This contactless encoder microsystem gives three sine and square signals with a phase shift of 120degrees and provides an angular error of less than 4degrees without external trimming or feedback. T
