This paper presents a fully integrated power management and sensing microsystem that harvests solar energy from a micro-power photovoltaic module for autonomous operation of a miniaturized hydrogen sensor. In order to measure H-2 concentration, conductance ...

Growing demand for the solid state meters for power and energy measurement leads to the fully integrated Hall sensor based microsystem solutions. In this paper we describe fully integrated SOI Hall sensor based microsystem for power and energy measurements with dynamic offset cancellation. Since Hall sensor behaves like a natural four quadrant multiplier it is used to multiply the line voltage and current giving the output voltage proportional to the instantaneous power. Furthermore, voltage at the Hall out

This article describes the design and the characterization of the ANTIGONE (ANalog To dIGital cONvErter) ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) built in AMS 0.35 m technology for low dc-current sensing. This energy-efficient ASIC was specifically d ...

A micro-power energy harvesting system based on core(crystalline Si)-shell(amorphous Si) nanowire solar cells together with a nanowire-modified CMOS sensing platform have been developed to be used in a dust-sized autonomous chemical sensor node. The mote ( ...

Demand Response (DR) is progressively moving from a centralized, unidirectional structure to a set of advanced decentralized mechanisms that better balance distributed supply and demand. This paper presents a decentralized cooperative DR framework to manag ...

An image sensor with 256 x 256 pixels and a pitch of 6.3 mu m, suitable for resolving ultrashort optical phenomena, is developed. It is based on a standard CMOS process with pinned photodiode option. The pixel comprises three transfer gates to allow versat ...

A 3-D simulation of substrate currents is crucial to analyze parasitic coupling effects due to minority carrier injection in smart power ICs. In this paper, a substrate parasitic extraction methodology is introduced by dividing the IC layout into elementar ...

This paper presents a fully integrated, ultra-low power microsystem that is used for hydrogen gas sensing in an autonomous wireless sensor node. The proposed circuit harvests solar energy from a micro-power photovoltaic module to measure temperature and hy ...

The Large Hadron Collider experiments at CERN will use power distribution schemes relying on integrated buck DC/DC converters. Due to the radiation-hardness requirements, the devices used for the development of such converters will have a voltage rating wh ...

This paper explores the potential and limitations of analog integrated circuit techniques for the simulation of low-loss or lossless 1D or 2D transmission mediums. In this approach, a transmission line is mapped into a ladder consisting of N identical LC e ...

This paper presents a modeling strategy to simulate 2D propagation of electrical perturbations induced by direct biasing of substrate junctions. Identifying parasitic substrate devices such as bipolar transistors reaches rapidly its limit when multiple cur ...

The state-of-the-art mass sensing so far has been rather developed along the resolution axis, reaching atomic-scale detection, than into the direction of high-speed. This paper reports a novel self-calibrating technique, making high-speed inertial mass sen ...

Contactless current measurement based on Hall-effect sensors can be performed in either closed-or open-loop configuration. In this paper an open-loop sensor system with a current-mode output is described. The system measures the magnetic field induced arou ...

A significant amount of energy in the buildings can be saved by inducing efficient occupant behavior. The occupant's awareness tools that have been shown to be effective in achieving energy efficiency gains depend on various computational and estimation al ...

This paper presents an ultra-high speed hardware platform dedicated to power system dynamic (small signal) and transient (large signal) stability. It is based on an intrinsic parallel architecture which contains hybrid mixed-signal (analog and digital) cir ...

This paper presents the design of the ANTIGONE ASIC in AMS 0.35 mu m technology that interfaces with ion-sensitive field effect transistors (ISFETs) to detect biomarkers like pH, Na+ and K+ in human sweat. The ISFET sensors generate a low current dc signal ...

Main stream bulk CMOS and the variants of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) CMOS technologies are discussed with respect to testing for the quiescent current of mixed-signal integrated SOI circuits. The 2-3 times lower static power consumption in fully depleted CMOS/SOI compared to bulk CMOS allows quiescent current testing also for high performance analogue circuits at an acceptable defect resolutions. From first simulations and technological considerations, it turned out that quiescent current tests are able to

This paper presents the design flow from system-level specifications to transistor-level design for three different fully-differential amplifiers composing the first and the second integrator of a second-order hybrid multi-bit ΔΣ modulator. The circuit-lev ...

This paper presents a complete portable laser-based projection system using two one-dimensional magnetic actuated MEMS linear scanning micro-mirrors. Dedicated high speed electronics was developed to drive the MEMS, detect the mirror scanning position at a ...
