Closure of the soil water balance is fundamental to ecohydrology. But closing the soil water balance with hydrometric information offers no insight into the age distribution of water transiting the soil column via deep drainage or the combination of soil e ...

Polyethylene block-copolymer films containing negative anhydride groups were used to immobilize TiO2, Fe2O3, and Fe3+ photocatalysts. The kinetics of the mineralization of azo-dye Orange II and chlorophenols on copolymer−TiO2, copolymer−Fe2O3, and copolymer−Fe3+ have been tested under optimized experimental conditions. In the case of copolymer−TiO2, the degradation kinetics for the model organic compounds were about the same as those observed with TiO2 suspensions containing about a 27 times higher amount o

This study reports visible light sensitive ZrNO and ZrNO-Ag polyester samples prepared by sputtering in an Ar/N-2/O-2 atmosphere leading to Escherichia coil bacterial inactivation. The bacterial inactivation by ZrNO avoids the increasing environmental conc ...

Recently, hybrid organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites have gained prominence as potent light harvesters in thin film solid-state photovoltaics. In particular the solar-to-electric power conversion efficiency (PCE) of devices using CH3NH3PbI3 as sensitizer has increased from 3 to 20.1% within only a few years. This key material can be prepared by solution processing from PbI2 and CH3NH3I in one step or by sequential deposition. In the latter case an electron capturing support such as TiO2 is first cove

Binary oxide semiconductors TiO2-ZrO2 and Cu-decorated TiO2-ZrO2 (TiO2-ZrO2-Cu) uniform films were sputtered on polyester (PES). These films were irradiated under low intensity solar simulated light and led to bacterial inactivation in aerobic and anaerobi ...

This study reports the details Escherichia coli inactivation kinetics on TiON and TiON-Ag films sputtered on polyester by direct current reactive magnetron sputtering (DC) and pulsed magnetron sputtering (DCP) in an Ar/N2 /O2 atmosphere. The use of TiON le ...

In this investigation, a new, green photo-Fenton process for wastewater treatment is proposed, involving the use of a natural iron source and natural additives, deriving from wastes, acting as iron chelators. The use of mineral iron as precursor in the pho ...

New evidence is reported for TiON sputtered polyester surfaces activated by sunlight irradiation leading to the accelerated bacterial inactivation in the minute range. The absorption in Kubelka-Munk units of the TiON film was observed to be directly propor ...

In this manuscript, the improvement of solar disinfection (SODIS) for water treatment through the photo-Fenton reaction using iron replacements, namely calcined herbs and spices (thyme, cumin, cinnamon, ginger, and cocoa), naturally containing high content ...

The bacterial inactivation of Escherichia coli on Cu/CuO-polyester surfaces prepared by direct current magnetron sputtering was investigated in the dark and under actinic light (360nm

Polydispersed dinickel phosphide (Ni2P) nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple and scalable solid-state reaction. These nanoparticles are an excellent and robust catalyst for the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction, operating in both acidic and ...

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a key process that enables the storage of renewable energies in the form of chemical fuels. Here, we describe a catalyst that exhibits turnover frequencies higher than state-of-the-art catalysts that operate in alkali ...

The increasing use of elements such as Nb and Ta in green and information technologies makes it necessary to develop appropriate analytical methods for studying their environmental and ecotoxicological behaviour. This paper describes the first time Nb has ...
