A force-sensing device to intraoperatively measure knee joint forces and moments to improve the ligament balancing procedure during total knee arthroplasty has been developed. It consists of two sensitive plates, one for each condyle, a tibial base plate a ...

This report details the tests performed on CentoNewton-B sensors, in the frame of pilot p

Packaging is the last step of the manufacturing process of Microsystems. The LPM is working on the development of a two-part soldered packaging. One part of the package is metallic; the other part is made of glass. The goal of the project is to solder the ...

This work presents calculations and measurements on a novel low-cost thick-film force sensor design for the 100 N force range. The mechanical concept of these force sensors is based on a double ring biaxial load, which allows the fabrication of simple sens ...

Ease of fabrication and design flexibility are two attractive features of low temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) technology for fabrication of complex micro-fluidic devices. Such structures are designed and processed using different shaping methods, the ...

Ligament balancing in total knee arthroplasty is believed to have an important influence on the joint stability and prosthesis lifetime. In order to provide quantitative information and assistance during the ligament balancing phase, a device that intraoperatively measures knee joint forces and moments has been developed.

The ring-on-ring bending principle allows the fabrication of simple, low-cost thick-film piezoresistive sensors for compressive forces in the 10 to 400 N range. However some imperfections are encountered in its basic embodiment, such as relatively high for ...

Subsolidus equilibria in the RuO2–Bi2O3–SiO2 diagram were studied with the aim of investigating possible interactions between the bismuth-ruthenate- based conductive phase and the silica-rich glasses in thick-film resistors. The tie lines are between Bi2Ru ...

In this work we seek to better understand the mechanisms governing pulse voltage trimming in disordered conductor-insulator composites. Therefore, we investigate the effect of the composition of thick-film resistors (TFRs) on sensitivity to high voltage pu ...

Two simple low-cost thick-film force sensor designs are optimised, characterised and tested in this work, combining calculations of sensor element and joint stresses, joint strength characterisation and measurement of complete sensors. All sensors are base ...

Goal of the Study: to achieve comparable reliability and reproducibility of the thermistor characteristics with LTCC as with standard alumina substrates.

Miniature ceramic cantilevers have been successfully applied to the fabrication of simple and low-cost piezoresistive thick-film force-sensing cells, using different thick-film and LTCC (low-temperature co-fired ceramic) substrates. The availability of thin substrates for some materials allows much improved sensitivity compared to classical thick-film technology, with LTCC also featuring rather low substrate elastic modulus and fine structurability. However, practical applicability may be hindered by proces

A complete line of resistors materials are tested for the manufacture of thick-film piezoresistive sensors and associated simple adjustment / amplification circuits: 10 kΩ compositions for the gauge resistors, together with 100 Ω and 100 kΩ ones for electronics and trimming, as well as PTC compositions for temperature compensation. Several aspects are considered, such as process sensitivity, overglazing and trimming.

Precise control of actuator position can be achieved by using thick-film resistors (TFRs) for piezoresistive position feedback.

2300 ppm/K. La valeur, et quelque peu le coeffici
