La colonisation de l'espace, ou colonisation spatiale, est au-delà d'un sujet classique de fiction, un projet astronautique d'habitation humaine permanente et en grande partie auto-suffisante en dehors de la Terre. Elle est liée à l'exploration spatiale.
Colonisation de VénusLa colonisation de Vénus, la plus proche planète de la Terre, est une idée qui est à l'origine de plusieurs ouvrages de science-fiction datant de l'époque où les seules caractéristiques connues de Vénus (présence de nuage, taille) pouvaient laisser penser que celle-ci était un lieu en partie favorable à la présence de l'homme. Les sondes spatiales ont permis de découvrir dans les années 1960 un environnement particulièrement hostile : températures très élevées, pression atmosphérique équivalente à celle des profondeurs océaniques, atmosphère dépourvue d'oxygène et de vapeur d'eau mais saturée de dioxyde de carbone et d'acides, absence de champ magnétique protecteur.
Colonisation de la LuneLa colonisation de la Lune est le projet consistant à installer une voire plusieurs bases permanentes habitées sur la Lune. Une présence humaine permanente sur un corps planétaire autre que la Terre est un thème récurrent de science-fiction. Alors que la technologie a évolué et que l'inquiétude quant à l'avenir de l'humanité sur Terre progresse, la colonisation de l'espace pourrait devenir un but possible et nécessaire. La Lune constituerait alors une excellente préparation en vue de voyages plus lointains.
Embryo space colonizationEmbryo space colonization is a theoretical interstellar space colonization concept that involves sending a robotic mission to a habitable terrestrial planet, dwarf planet, minor planet or natural satellite transporting frozen early-stage human embryos or the technological or biological means to create human embryos. The proposal circumvents the most severe technological problems of other mainstream interstellar colonization concepts. In contrast to the sleeper ship proposal, it does not require the more technically challenging 'freezing' of fully developed humans (see cryonics).

Architectural technologistThe architectural technologist, also known as a building technologist, provides technical building design services and is trained in architectural technology, building technical design and construction. Architectural technologists apply the science of architecture and typically concentrate on the technology of building, design technology and construction. The training of an architectural technologist concentrates on the ever-increasingly complex technical aspects in a building project, but matters of aesthetics, space, light and circulation are also involved within the technical design, leading the professional to assume decisions which are also non-technical.
