Gyrotrons are essential for electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) in fusion reactors, making their efficient operation crucial for fusion energy. Past experiments revealed instability issues due to trapped electrons in the magnetron injection gun (MIG) region, causing undesired currents and operational failures. To address this, tight manufacturing tolerances are required for the MIG geometry~\cite{pago2}. We present findings of the TRapped Electrons eXperiment (T-REX) at the Swiss Plasma Center, desi

Three new red-emitting cationic cyclometalated iridium complexes with formula [Ir(C^N)2(N^N)][ClO4] (C^N = substituted quinoxaline[X-dpqx], N^N = 2-(1-benzyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole-2-yl) quinoline, namely: IrQ1, 2, 3, where X = H, Cl, and OCH3, respectively) have been synthesized for application as an emitter in light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs). The (quasi-) reversible redox behavior of the complexes confirmed their electrochemical stability as an impo

The ICT sector has seen a rapid increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, rising by 30% over four years, accounting for 3,4% of global emissions in 2023. Given its growing environmental footprint, it is crucial to better assess and quantify these impacts, in order to then reduce them. At the core of IT devices are key sub-components such as wafers and display panels. Their environmental impact is significant. For instance, the display contribute to 28% of a laptop's total footprint (according to ResilioDa

Windows in modern architectural environments serve as essential interfaces connecting indoor spaces to dynamic outdoor views. Although traditional view assessment frameworks have provided valuable insight into static view properties, they fall short of capturing the temporal and dynamic aspects of real-world scenes. Addressing this gap, this thesis introduces a novel approach that combines eye tracking data, advanced computational analysis, and deep learning to model how occupants visually engage with windo

The electronics industry is one of the most successful in the world (Veit & Bernardes, 2015). Computers, mobile phones, television screens, touch pads are now part of the daily lives of many people of this planet. The advent of more and more sophisticated products, innovations and continuous updates contribute to constant lifespan reduction of existing devices (Li, 2015). For a computer, for example, it went from 4.5 years in 1992 to 2 years for the year 2005 (Veit & Bernardes, 2015). Currently, sales of el

Light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) can be fabricated as a single emissive organic/salt layer sandwiched between two electrodes, offering cost-effective next generation signage and lighting applications. Cyanine dyes are especially attractive to ex ...

Introduction: Diagnosing-prosthetic joint infection (PJI) poses significant challenges, and current modalities are fraught with low sensitivity and/or potential morbidity. Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a novel ultrasound-based modality with potential for ...
