NiOx is widely used as a hole transport material in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). This wide band gap p-type material is conveniently deposited via high throughput RF-sputtering, making it suitable for the industrialization of PSCs. Nonetheless, for the cells to pass accelerated degradation tests such as the IEC 61215 damp heat (DH) test, the chemistry of the NiOx film should remain constant at elevated temperaturs to preserve its optoelectronic properties. This study emphasizes that structural defects resu

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) can reach power conversion efficiencies above 26% through simple fabrication methods, offering key advantages over established photovoltaic technologies. Yet, for PSCs to contribute to the energy transition, their operational stability must be improved. The mixed ionic-electronic conductivity of the metal halide perovskite absorber induces reversible and irreversible performance changes linked to electric field-driven ionic accumulation. The extent to which PSCs are affected by

Engineering at interface between perovskite and charge transport layers is crucial for improving operational stability. In inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a core configuration of HTL/perovskite/ETL/HBL (HTL = hole transporting layer; ETL = electron transporting layer; HBL = hole blocking layer), the interfaces at ETL based on phenyl‐C 61 ‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) are more defective due to its molecular geometry, leading to imperfect adhesion. We introduce the dual interlayer passivation

We investigate the effect of light soaking and forward electric bias treatment on SHJ solar cells and modules, and in particular the influence of the thermal treatment occurring during lamination. A substantial performance increase is observed after electric bias or light soaking, which is shown to be potentially partly reset by the lamination process. This reset is reproduced by annealing the cells with the same thermal budget. A second treatment after lamination again improves performances, and a similar

Plasma treatments are currently being assessed as a seed processing technology for agricultural purposes where seeds are typically subjected to pre-sowing treatments to improve the likelihood of timely and uniform germination. The aim of this review is to ...

Silicon heterojunction solar cells use crystalline silicon (c-Si) wafers as optical absorbers and employ bilayers of doped/intrinsic hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) to form passivating contacts. Recently, we demonstrated that such solar cells incre ...

Soil incorporation of charcoal (biochar) has been suggested as practice to sequester carbon, improve soil properties and crop yields but most studies have been done in the short term. Old anthropogenic charcoal-rich soils in the Alps enable to explore the ...

In this work, we analyze the effect of rough ZnO front electrodes developed in-house favoring high current versus "smoother" substrates favoring good Voc and FF on the properties of microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H) cells. Complete μc-Si:H p-i-n solar cells with intrinsic layer thicknesses varying from 1 to 6μm were deposited using very high frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The better scattering capabilities of rough substrates induce a significantly higher cell current in comparison to

Riparian and in-bed vegetation growth and erosion dynamics are strongly coupled with river hydrologic and morphodynamic processes. Many field observations documented the engineering role of vegetation and its contribution to build, stabilize and control erosion and deposition on gravel bars. Yet unclear, is how do the interplay between the hydraulic time scale (arrival time of flood disturbances) and the vegetation germination and growth rates determines the statistical distribution of the surviving vegetat

Single-junction microcrystalline silicon (mu c-Si:H) solar cells of selected i-layer crystalline volume fractions were light soaked (AM1.5, 1000 h at 50 degrees C) and subsequently annealed at increasing temperatures. The variations of subbandgap absorption during light soaking and during thermal annealing were monitored by Fourier transform photocurrent spectroscopy. The kinetics were shown to follow stretched exponential functions over long times such as 1000 h. The effective time constants appearing in t

We have investigated the kinetics of germinate carbon monoxide binding to the monomeric component III of Chironomus thummi-thummi erythrocruorin, a protein that undergoes pH-induced conformational changes linked to a pronounced Bohr effect. Measurements were performed from cryogenic temps. to room temp. in 75% glycerol and either 0.1 M potassium phosphate (pH 7) or 0.1 potassium borate (pH 9) after nanosecond laser photolysis. The distributions of the low temp. activation enthalpy g(H) for germinate ligand
