[0001] An electro-mechanically stackable docking station (1) is proposed for a drone. the docking station (1) comprises: a housing (8) comprising a door (5); a tray mechanism (6) comprising a tray (6) configured to move between a retracted position, and an extended position; a landing pad (7) on the tray (6) for the drone; a data communication module to allow the docking station (1) to set up a data communication link with the drone (2) and/or with another device; a data processing unit to process data;

Connecting the world has always been a struggle for power, ideology, and control, disguised as a technical endeavor. From colonial-era technologies used to govern distant territories to the telegraph systems enabling intercontinental communication, the drive for connection has long been a mechanism of control. The Internet, as a network of networks shaping ecological, material, and societal dimensions, embodies a complex interplay of decentralization and centralization. This totalizing project has often ove

At the eastern end of the Flon platform stands a building unnoticed by passersby. Initially a garage, the building currently hosting the Parking Saint-François was built in 1957, replacing the former freight station with a brand new one dedicated to the transport of people. Now standing on a public transport node, connecting the upper city and the lower city through a series of elevators and footbridges, the building still carries the late 60s’ ambition to attract cars always deeper into city centres. Over

Movement is not enough considered in architectural design. Whether at the scale of a stage in the Theoretical Statement or at the scale of a river in the Master’s Project, this project counters the control of bodies as the only way of relating to movement, and therefore to life, in urban space; instead, it questions how to stage it. The project proposes to revitalise the Veveyse torrent by giving back to water the unbuilt spaces it used to flow through before industrialisation; this by redesigning the branc

The space of a drawing can expand by allowing the lines to stretch and breathe. It is the foundation of constructing knowledge that can be transformed and evolve over time. The instrument used for tracing is a fix pencil. Depending on the pressure exerted by the hand on the surface of the paper, different types of leads are tested (4H, 2H, F). An attempt is made to discover the thickness of each line. It is recommended to constantly sharpen the lead, in order to draw by cutting. The pencil acts like a knif

The project is situated at the entrance of the Sado Estuary, a crucial location for the defense of Lisbon and Setubal. This place witnessed military occupations at various historical periods. Faced with abandonment and destruction, the intervention focuses on the site of the Old Fort (17th c.) and 7th Artillery Battery (WWII), located on top of a cliff. The proposal is defined by a new structure that connects the military buildings (Old Fort, Entrenched Buildings, and 3 Batteries) guiding visitors to unders

This semester project deals with the study of at fully clamped plates with various geome- tries (circular and square), piezoelectric properties and uniformly distributed load (normal to the surface). The stress distribution is analyzed in order to obtain an electrical displacement. The objective is to distinguish positive and negative stresses areas in our plate in order to dene an area for current measurements for microphone applications. For the circular plate, a straightforward analytical resolution of t

In the present invention a new solar photovoltaic module is proposed comprising a solar cell comprising a silicon layer having a first (1 a) surface and a second surface (1a) opposite to said first surface. The solar cell further comprises a passivating la ...

This paper develops linkages and bilateral influences between the “open innovation” paradigm and research in Public Administration. To this end, the article aims to investigate the different areas of interest of the Public Administration literature to understand how scholars in the field have interpreted open innovation, further identifying the key characteristics of open innovation adopted in the public sector, with a specific focus on e-government, digital governance, and their impact on public management

We consider the problem of reliably connecting an arbitrarily large set of computers (nodes) with communication channels. Reliability means here the ability, for any two nodes, to remain connected (i.e., their ability to communicate) with probability at least mu, despite the very fact that every other node or channel has an independent probability lambda of failing. A simple solution to the problem consists in connecting every pair of nodes with several channels. This solution however does not scale: the nu

Suspended microchannel resonators (SMRs) are devices that detect particles in liquid samples. In comparison with similar resonating devices that must be immersed, SMRs allow the fluids to flow through microfluidic resonators. This principle of operation leads to a great reduction of the required sample and to enhanced quality factors. As such, SMRs show great potential for a variety of sensing applications. This thesis reports on the final steps of the microfabrication of SMRs and on the development of a mi

A system and method for cooperative data streaming are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a system for cooperative data streaming comprises a group of devices comprising at least two devices, which are interested in obtaining the same content from the ...

The performance of tour Nb3Sn conductors for the ITER central solenoids was tested. The current sharing temperatures (T-cs) were measured over approximately 9000 electromagnetic cycles, including two or three thermal cycles between 4.2 K and room temperatu ...

This paper presents the results of the latest European Conductor Performance Qualification Sample for the ITER toroidal field coils. The standard qualification test was performed in the SULTAN facility at CRPP. The sample consisted of two 3.5-m lengths of ...

Mechanical and electrical connecting of piezoelectric actuator is often done using conductive glue. Its advantage is not to heat the piezoelectric actuator during connection. But there are many disadvantages to gluing; the main one is curing time. Welding is another alternative, but when done in an oven, the temperature needed for this operation might destroy the heat sensitive actuator. The method described in this paper is laser soldering of piezoelectric actuator. The piezo actuator is mechanically and e

The presence of connectors or other shield interruptions can seriously degrade the EMI protection provided by the braid of an otherwise well-shielded cable system. The paper presents a methodology to determine the internal response of a discontinuous shielded cable to an exciting electromagnetic field. The analysis is performed considering different types of discontinuities such as cable connectors, pigtail terminations, and interrupted shield. For the specific case of a cable with the shield interrupted at

Swissmetal recently completed a contract to manufacture 200 m of NbTi cable-in-conduit prototype conductor to be used in the Wendelstein 7-X superconducting magnet system. The conductor consists of a 192 strand, four stage NbTi cable in an aluminium alloy jacket cooled by forced flow helium. It will operate at 16 kA, 3.8K and 6.2 T. To qualify this conductor electrical tests were performed on a 3.6 m long full-size specimen in the SULTAN test facility at CRPP. In preparation for these tests two conductor te
