Construire une infrastructure archivistique pour les archives d’architecture : Le projet CA–O–RD. Communication présentée au Petit colloque, Université de Lausanne (UNIL), 27 mars 2026.

The CA–O–RD project (Contemporary Architecture – Open Research Data), developed at the Archives de la construction moderne (EPFL), is part of a broader transformation of archival practices driven by the growing arrival of digital and hybrid collections in the field of architecture. In response to these changes, traditional descriptive tools are no longer sufficient, making it necessary to articulate archival description, digital preservation, and data access within a coherent infrastructure. Infrastructuring bureaucracy: putting AI to work in public administration

While artificial intelligence (AI) is often seen as a panacea for automating various tasks, AI-based software introduces new challenges to organizations. It often necessitates expensive hardware rented from cloud providers and requires extensive data collection from existing infrastructures while ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Drawing from a two-year-long participant-observer ethnographic study conducted within a federal administration department in Switzerland, this article delves in

Controlling motion artefact levels in MR images by suspending data acquisition during periods of head motion

Purpose: Head movements are a major source of MRI artefacts. Prospective motion correction techniques significantly improve data quality, but strong motion artefacts may remain in the data. We introduce a framework to suspend data acquisition during period ...

Design and first applications of the ITER integrated modelling & analysis suite

Olivier Sauter, Basil Duval, Jonathan Bryan Lister, Sun Hee Kim

The ITER Integrated Modelling & Analysis Suite (IMAS) will support both plasma operation and research activities on the ITER tokamak experiment. The IMAS will be accessible to all ITER members as a key tool for the scientific exploitation of ITER. The back ...

Interoperation between Miniboxing and Other Generics Translations

Generics allow programmers to design algorithms and data structures that operate in the same way regardless of the data used by abstracting over data types. Generics are useful as they improve the programmer’s productivity by raising the level of abstraction, which in turn leads to reducing code duplication and uniform interfaces. However, as data on the low-level comes in different shapes and sizes, it is not a trivial job of compiler to bridge the gap between the uniform interface and the non-uniform low

Mynodbcsv: Lightweight Zero-Config Database Solution for Handling Very Large CSV Files

Volumes of data used in science and industry are growing rapidly. When researchers face the challenge of analyzing them, their format is often the first obstacle. Lack of standardized ways of exploring different data layouts requires an effort each time to ...

The European Integrated Tokamak Modelling (ITM) effort: achievements and first physics results

Olivier Sauter, Antonio José Pereira de Figueiredo

A selection of achievements and first physics results are presented of the European Integrated Tokamak Modelling Task Force (EFDA ITM-TF) simulation framework, which aims to provide a standardized platform and an integrated modelling suite of validated num ...

Open Support Platform for Environmental Research (OSPER)-tools for the discovery and exploitation of environmental data

Karl Aberer, Anthony Christopher Davison

The Open Support Platform for Environmental Research (OSPER) has been launched to take forward key data management components developed under the Swiss Experiment platform project to achieve improved usability and a wider scope. With this project, we aim to connect users to data and their context, an area identified during SwissEx as having the greatest potential impact on the research community. OSPER has a clear focus on providing the technology for data storage, management and exploitation with a special

A Flexible In Situ Power Monitoring Unit for Environmental Sensor Networks

Alcherio Martinoli

Wireless radios are a great consumer of energy in sensor networks. Retrieving data from a remote deployment in an energy-efficient fashion is a difficult problem, and while solutions have been proposed in literature, real-world systems typically implement robust though inefficient methods. In an effort to bring efficient monitoring techniques to real-world environmental sensor networks, we seek to now quantify the performance brought by these algorithms in practical terms, i.e., by their resulting reduction

Global burden of injuries attributable to alcohol consumption in 2004: a novel way of calculating the burden of injuries attributable to alcohol consumption

Background: Alcohol consumption is a major risk factor for injuries; however, international data on this burden are limited. This article presents new methods to quantify the burden of injuries attributable to alcohol consumption and quantifies the number ...

Concurrency Control for Transactional Drago

Jörg Kienzle

The granularity of concurrency control has a big impact on the performance of transactional systems. Concurrency control granu- larity and data granularity (data size) are usually the same. The e ect of this coupling is that if a coarse granularity is used, the overhead of data access (number of disk accesses) is reduced, but also the degree of concurrency. On the other hand, if a ne granularity is chosen to achieve a higher degree of concurrency (there are less con icts), the cost of data access is increas

Indexing and selection of data items in huge data sets by constructing and accessing tag collections

Roger Hersch

We present here a new way of indexing and retrieving data in huge datasets having a high dimensionality. The proposed method speeds up the selecting process by replacing scans of the whole data by scans of matching data. It makes use of two levels of catalogs that allow efficient data preselections. First level catalogs only contain a small subset of the data items selected according to given criteria. The first level catalogs allow to carry out queries and to preselect items. Then, a refined query can be c
