The Goemans Lab of Drug-microbiota Interactions at EPFL focuses on understanding the impact of antibiotics on gut microbiota, the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance, and designing better treatment strategies. By combining systems approaches with molecular microbiology and biochemistry, the lab investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying antibiotic effects on diverse bacterial species, the spread of antibiotic resistance in the gut, and the development of novel approaches to target pathogens while protecting the gut microbiota.
