Statistical Physics of Computation Laboratory (SB)

The Laboratory of Statistical Physics of Computing Systems at EPFL focuses on using tools of statistical physics and mathematics to understand the behavior, performance, and limitations of computational problems and algorithms. Led by Head of Laboratory Lenka Zdeborova, the research spans various areas including machine learning with deep neural networks, statistical inference, optimization, combinatorics, epidemic spreading, and signal processing. The team is deeply rooted in physics and aims to enhance the understanding and adaptation of machine learning methods, particularly deep learning, to emerging applications, with a focus on the Statistical Physics of Complex Systems.
