River Ecosystems Laboratory

The Research Laboratory in River Ecosystems (RIVER) at EPFL conducts fundamental research focusing on alpine stream ecosystems. RIVER's interdisciplinary approach combines environmental sciences and ecology to study biofilms, stream ecosystem processes, and biogeochemistry. By blending fieldwork, experiments, and modeling, the lab aims to gain a mechanistic understanding of stream ecosystem functioning.
