The Laboratory of Supramolecular Chemistry at EPFL focuses on the synthesis of molecularly defined nanostructures and functional materials through self-assembly using unique building blocks like nanometer-sized clathrochelate complexes. They explore orthogonal supramolecular chemistry with reversible interactions such as dative boron-nitrogen bonds and specific metal-ligand interactions. Additionally, the lab works on novel chemical processes involving nitrous oxide, aiming to utilize it as an oxidant in transition metal catalyzed reactions and as a building block for complex organic molecules. Their research also extends to organometallic synthesis and catalysis, developing new transition-metal catalyzed processes using innovative substrates like alkynyltriazenes.
