The Laboratory of Biological Resolution Characterization (LBNC), also known as the Maerkl lab, conducts research at the intersection of engineering and biology, focusing on systems biology, synthetic biology, and molecular diagnostics. The lab aims to design and engineer biological systems by incorporating engineering concepts such as reverse engineering, quantitative analysis, and computational biophysical modeling. Specific interests include reverse engineering gene regulatory networks, transcriptional regulation, cell-free synthetic biology, protein engineering, and developing advanced molecular diagnostic devices. To drive progress in biological engineering, LBNC is dedicated to developing cutting-edge microfluidic technologies and molecular methods.
