The Laboratory of Sustainable Architecture and Technology (LAST) at EPFL, under the direction of Prof. Emmanuel Rey, focuses on sustainable architecture research and teaching. Emphasizing transitions towards sustainability at various intervention scales, from urban design to building components, LAST integrates innovative and evaluative criteria into architectural design. Through interdisciplinary approaches, LAST establishes dynamic links between architecture and the built environment, contributing to the evolution of sustainable urban areas. Research projects include exploring bioclimatic buildings, neighborhoods in transition, and innovative building components, aiming to optimize environmental, socio-cultural, and economic parameters in architectural projects.
