This master’s project, developed within Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics (EESD) laboratory at the ENAC faculty of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), aims to assess and improve innovative and economical housing solutions in Nicaragua. Set against a backdrop of ongoing socio-economic and environmental challenges, this initiative targets the critical need for affordable and safe housing. The project explores two main con-cepts : first, the verification of an existing structure that utilizes lightweight, industrialised con-struction methods requiring minimal manpower, and second, the conception of new structural elements aimed at enhancing the building’s structural performance and ease of implementation.
