We implement the recently developed influence functional matrix product states approach as impurity solver in equilibrium and nonequilibrium dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) calculations of the single-band Hubbard model. The method yields numerically exa ...

Foundation models are highly versatile neural-network architectures capable of processing different data types, such as text and images, and generalizing across various tasks like classification and generation. Inspired by this success, we propose Foundati ...

Low-energy excitations play a key role in all condensed-matter systems, yet there is limited understanding of their nature in glasses, where they correspond to local rearrangements of groups of particles. Here, we introduce an algorithm to systematically u ...

We review the basic assumptions and spell out the detailed arguments that lead to the bound on the Regge growth of gravitational scattering amplitudes. The minimal extra ingredient compared to the gapped case - in addition to unitarity, analyticity, subexp ...

Using a novel optimization procedure, it has been shown that the Helically Symmetric eXperiment stellarator can be optimized for reduced trapped-electron-mode (TEM) instability [Gerard et al., Nucl. Fusion 63, (2023) 056004]. Presently, with a set of 563 e ...

Over the past decade or so, a broad research programme spear-headed by H. Duminil-Copin and his collaborators has vastly increased our understanding of a number of critical or near-critical statistical mechanics models. Most prominently, these include the ...

Superconducting resonators are widely used in fields spanning from quantum computing to electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. With the goal of realizing superconducting resonators, a broad variety and combination of superconducting materials, substra ...

We extend our recently proposed formalism for calculating anomalies of global and gauge symmetries using the covariant derivative expansion to include a general class of operators that can appear in relativistic effective field theories (EFTs). This allows ...

Gas diffusion electrodes are essential components of common fuel and electrolysis cells but are typically made from graphitic carbon or metallic materials, which do not allow light transmittance and thus limit the development of gas-phase based photoelectr ...

Radial electric fields up to similar to 4 kV m(-1) are observed in the boundary between the private flux region (PFR) and the scrape-off layer (SOL) driving E X B drifts between the inner and outer targets at speeds up to 2.8 km s(-1) in the Tokamak a conf ...

The first observation of the semileptonic b-baryon decay Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda(+)(c) tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau) with a significance of 6.1 sigma, is reported using a data sample corresponding to 3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb expe ...

Interacting particle systems play a key role in science and engineering. Access to the governing particle interaction law is fundamental for a complete understanding of such systems. However, the inherent system complexity keeps the particle interaction hi ...

We present a numerical assessment of the thermal-hydraulic performance of the NbTi bus bars designed for the European DEMO. We consider the CS, TF and PF bus bars, as well as two alternative TF options for high-current operations. The main sources of stati ...

In RbCoCl3, the magnetic Co2+ ions form weakly coupled Ising chains arranged on a triangular lattice. We have investigated the structure and magnetism in RbCoCl3 by high-resolution x-ray diffraction and neutron scattering measurements on powder and single- ...

We present a measurement of R-K(), the branching fraction ratio B(B -> K mu(+)mu(-))/B(B -> K* e(+) e(-)), for both charged and neutral B mesons. The ratio for the charged case RK*+ is the first measurement ever performed. In addition, we report absolute ...

A search for CP violation in charmless three-body Xi(-)(b) -> pK(-)K(-) decays is performed using pp collision data recorded with the LHCb detector, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1 fb(-1) at a center-of-mass energy root S = 7 TeV, 2 fb(-1) at ...

Interferometric imaging is an emerging technique for particle tracking and mass photometry. Mass or position are estimated from weak signals, coherently scattered from nanoparticles or single molecules, and interfered with a co-propagating reference. In th ...

In recent years, numerous measurement techniques have been employed to characterize surface textures in the micrometer and nanometer range. Although these techniques have enabled significant advances in surface metrology, larger surface details are not eas ...

We enter a bichromatically-pumped multistability regime in a microresonator to observe the emergence of complex dynamics of dissipative Kerr soliton interactions, including short-range soliton binding and periodic soliton collision. (C) 2020 The Author(s) ...

We present a methodology to quantify polarization and electron affinity changes at interfaces by combining scanning tunneling spectroscopy, off-axis electron holography in transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and self-consistent calculations of the elec ...
