Layered van der Waals materials have emerged as a major platform for exploring novel electronic phenomena and engineering artificial heterostructures with tunable properties. Among these materials, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) exhibit a wide range of correlated electronic phases, including charge density waves (CDWs) and superconductivity. In this work, we investigate the natural heterostructure compound 4Hb-TaS₂, whose distinct atomic layers display different physical properties when isolated.
Using resistivity and electron diffraction measurements, we identify the presence of CDW ordering in 4Hb-TaS₂. High-pressure transport experiments further reveal the interplay between CDW and superconducting phases. To accurately probe out-of-plane charge transport, we employ Focused Ion Beam (FIB) microfabrication techniques for sample preparation. Finally, we explore the possible moiré patterns arising from the coexistence of multiple CDWs with different modulation vectors. These results highlight 4Hb-TaS₂ as a promising platform for studying correlated phenomena in naturally layered heterostructures.
