This research examines the spatial implications of emergency management in New York City, where crises—climatic, social, and political—continuously reshape the urban fabric. Arriving in June 2024 amid a heatwave, pollution warnings, and protests, this study explores how emergency protocols shape architectural design and social infrastructures. Conducted at The New School’s Urban Space Lab, the research engages with governmental agencies, activists, and community groups through site visits, interviews, and visual documentation, culminating in actions that critically question emergency-driven spatial transformations.
