Reducing emissions and energy consumption of the building stock is a crucial element of Switzerland’s energy transition. A better understanding of the energy fluxes and heat emissions from buildings is therefore essential. This report draws on a bottom-up approach to urban building energy models (UBEMs) to define building archetypes relevant to the Swiss Lemanic context. Based on diverse spatial data sources and a methodical data processing workflow, a detailed set of input parameters for the STEBBS model is developed. These parameters account for building function and type, thermal and radiative properties associated with the materials used in building structural components, dwelling and household types, as well as heating system sizing. The observed variations in input parameters support the reliability of the archetype classification and capture key spatial patterns of energy-relevant building characteristics. The developed methodology is highly transferable to other cantons and well-suited for future updates as new data becomes available. This work contributes to strengthening the foundation for detailed, bottom-up urban energy models that require realistic, spatially disaggregated building inputs.
