Spectral-based graph neural networks (SGNNs) have been attracting increasing attention in graph representation learning. However, existing SGNNs are limited in implementing graph filters with rigid transforms and cannot adapt to signals residing on graphs ...

We characterize the solution of a broad class of convex optimization problems that address the reconstruction of a function from a finite number of linear measurements. The underlying hypothesis is that the solution is decomposable as a finite sum of compo ...

We characterize the local smoothness and the asymptotic growth rate of the Levy white noise. We do so by characterizing the weighted Besov spaces in which it is located. We extend known results in two ways. First, we obtain new bounds for the local smoothn ...

We focus on the generalized-interpolation problem. There, one reconstructs continuous-domain signals that honor discrete data constraints. This problem is infinite-dimensional and ill-posed. We make it well-posed by imposing that the solution balances data ...

Many scientific inquiries in natural sciences involve approximating a spherical field -namely a scalar quantity defined over a continuum of directions- from generalised samples of the latter (e.g. directional samples, local averages, etc). Such an approxim ...

This thesis focuses on developing efficient algorithmic tools for processing large datasets. In many modern data analysis tasks, the sheer volume of available datasets far outstrips our abilities to process them. This scenario commonly arises in tasks incl ...

High frequency wind time series measured at different heights from the ground (from 1.5 to 25.5 meters) in an urban area were investigated by using the variance of the coefficients of their wavelet transform. Two ranges of scales were identified, sensitive ...

We study continuous-domain linear inverse problems with generalized total-variation (gTV) regularization, expressed in terms of a regularization operator L. It has recently been proved that such inverse problems have sparse spline solutions, with fewer jum ...

We address the problem of sampling and reconstruction of sparse signals with finite rate of innovation. We derive general conditions under which perfect reconstruction is possible for sampling kernels satisfying Strang-Fix conditions. Previous results on t ...

We investigate the performance of wavelet shrinkage methods for the denoising of symmetric-a-stable (S alpha S) self-similar stochastic processes corrupted by additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), where a is tied to the sparsity of the process. The wavelet ...

We propose a signal analysis tool based on the sign (or the phase) of complex wavelet coefficients, which we call a signature. The signature is defined as the fine-scale limit of the signs of a signal's complex wavelet coefficients. We show that the signat ...

We establish in the world of stochastic processes a theoretical relation between sparsity and wavelets. The underlying principle is to treat stochastic processes as generalized functions, which facilitates the study of their properties in a transform domai ...

quickly, and using few samples in time domain, is known as the Sparse Fourier Transform (sparse FFT) problem. A long line of work on the sparse FFT has resulted in ...

In analogy with steerable wavelets, we present a general construction of adaptable tight wavelet frames, with an emphasis on scaling operations. In particular, the derived wavelets can be "dilated" by a procedure comparable to the operation of steering ste ...

A crucial component of steerable wavelets is the radial profile of the generating function in the frequency domain. In this paper, we present an infinite-dimensional optimization scheme that helps us find the optimal profile for a given criterion over the ...

In this paper, we first introduce fractional integral spaces, which possess some features: (i) when 0 < α < 1, functions in these spaces are not required to be zero on the boundary; (ii)the tempered fractional operators are equivalent to the Riemann-Liouvi ...

Our aim is to optimize wavelet-based feature extraction for differentiating between the classical versus atypical pattern of usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) in volumetric CT. Our proposal is to act on the bandwidth of steerable wavelets while maintainin ...

The discrete cosine transform (DCT) is known to be asymptotically equivalent to the Karhunen-Loève transform (KLT) of Gaussian first-order auto-regressive (AR(1)) processes. Since being uncorrelated under the Gaussian hypothesis is synonymous with independ ...

The fractional Laplacian operator (−∆)s on a bounded domain Ω can be realized as a Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for a degenerate elliptic equation posed in the semi-infinite cylinder Ω × (0,∞). In fact, the Neumann trace on Ω involves a Muckenhoupt weight that ...

Cycle spinning is a widely used approach for improving the performance of wavelet-based methods that solve linear inverse problems. Extensive numerical experiments have shown that it significantly improves the quality of the recovered signal without increa ...
