What do individuals conceive of as justice in space?

Abstract

The main topic of this presentation is the justification of the interview protocol developed in my doctoral research, a research that studies the collective representations of what a just space is, for the city-society of the Metropolitan Area of Porto. The presentation explores the movement from literature review of theories of justice to designing a questionnaire asking people to talk about justice in the city.

Theory

A theory is a rational type of abstract thinking about a phenomenon, or the results of such thinking. The process of contemplative and rational thinking is often associated with such processes as observational study or research. Theories may be scientific, belong to a non-scientific discipline, or no discipline at all. Depending on the context, a theory's assertions might, for example, include generalized explanations of how nature works. Justification (epistemology)

Justification (also called epistemic justification) is the property of belief that qualifies it as knowledge rather than mere opinion. Epistemology is the study of reasons that someone holds a rationally admissible belief (although the term is also sometimes applied to other propositional attitudes such as doubt). Epistemologists are concerned with various epistemic features of belief, which include the ideas of warrant (a proper justification for holding a belief), knowledge, rationality, and probability, among others.
