Abstract

We review some recent results on the application of distributed Raman amplification schemes, including ultralong lasers, to the extension of the operating range and contrast in Brillouin optical time domain analysis (BOTDA) distributed sensing systems.

Distributed computing

A distributed system is a system whose components are located on different networked computers, which communicate and coordinate their actions by passing messages to one another.
