Abstract

Recently developed self-consistent models for beam-wave interaction simulations of a gyrotron oscillator have been extended to study spurious backward-wave instabilities in smooth-wall circular symmetric beam ducts. Starting from a purely metallic case, the influence of a dielectric coating on different parts of the beam duct is studied.y

Electronic oscillator

Low-power klystrons are used as oscillators in terrestrial microwave relay communications links, while high-power klystrons are used as output tubes in UHF television transmitters, satellite communication, radar transmitters, and to generate the drive power for modern particle accelerators.
