Abstract

PINCHLENI is a software for energy integration of industrial processes based on Pinch Analysis. The software in version 2.0 allows: - the visualisation of the composite curves and the grand composite curve - the choice of the optimal pinch based on economic or exergetic criteria - the design of heat exchanger networks - the integration of power units (engines and heat pumps) - the establishment of a global exergy balance and a graphic representation of exergy factors - the analysis of batch processes, drawing of the composite curves for each time slice, choice of storages. Initially developed for Macintosh, the PINCHLENI version 2.0 software is now available on PC computers running Windows in french, german or english version with an installation manuel and a user guide. Heat pump

A heat pump is a device that uses work to transfer heat from a cool space to a warm space by transferring thermal energy using a refrigeration cycle, cooling the cool space and warming the warm space. In cold weather a heat pump can move heat from the cool outdoors to warm a house; the pump may also be designed to move heat from the house to the warmer outdoors in warm weather. The fluids may be separated by a solid wall to prevent mixing or they may be in direct contact. They are widely used in space heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, power stations, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, petroleum refineries, natural-gas processing, and sewage treatment.
