This Python script automates the upload of digital objects to AtoM (Access to Memory), here used through the Morphe instance (EPFL). It enables the association of local files (images or PDFs) with existing archival descriptions based on a structured CSV file (records.csv) and a directory containing the digital objects.
Using Playwright, the script controls a web browser to replicate the user actions required to add a digital object (“Add digital object”). For each record, it identifies the corresponding file based on the archival reference code (referenceCode), constructs the appropriate upload URL, uploads the file, and submits the form. A flexible validation mechanism checks for indicators of success or failure within the interface, and each operation is logged in an output file (upload_log.csv), distinguishing between successful uploads, errors, missing files, and cases requiring manual verification. The script is designed to streamline and standardize batch processing workflows in AtoM, while maintaining user control through a required manual login step prior to execution.
