Une éducation au réel, l’Atelier Cantàfora à l’EPFL

Exposition consacrée au champ de la représentation graphique en architecture, ce projet s’appuie sur quinze années d’enseignement de la représentation architecturale à l’EPFL, au tournant des années 2000. Il réunit une centaine de peintures sur bois, réalisées entre 1997 et 2007 dans le cadre des Unités d’Enseignement dirigées par l’artiste peintre Arduino Cantàfora, en tant que travaux didactiques. L’ensemble constitue un corpus qui interroge les modalités opératoires du projet architectural, en mettant en évidence une pratique située à l’interface entre pensée et action. Le dessin et la peinture y sont envisagés comme des dispositifs structurants, capables de formaliser un concept et de s’affirmer comme un langage fondamental dans l’élaboration et l’expression de l’idée fondatrice du projet. An exhibition devoted to the field of graphic representation in architecture, this project draws on fifteen years of teaching architectural representation at EPFL around the turn of the 2000s. It brings together approximately one hundred paintings on wood, produced between 1997 and 2007 within the Teaching Units led by the painter Arduino Cantàfora, as didactic works.

The ensemble constitutes a corpus that interrogates the operative modalities of the architectural project, highlighting a practice situated at the intersection of thought and action. Drawing and painting are considered as structuring devices capable of formalizing a concept and asserting themselves as a fundamental language in the development and expression of the founding idea of a project.
