Abstract

Jährlich treten ca. 1,5 Mio. neue Schlaganfälle in Europa auf. Trotz Weiterentwicklung der Akutbehandlung mit flächendeckenden Stroke Units, Thrombolyse und Thrombektomie und der postakuten Neurorehabilitation erholt sich immer noch nur ein Teil der Patienten. Seit etwas mehr als 10 Jahren wird transkranielle elektrische Stimulation eingesetzt, um residuale Funktion und funktionelle Erholung nach Schlaganfall zu verbessern. Der folgende Übersichtsartikel fokussiert auf Limitationen, Herausforderungen und Chancen dieser Methodik.
