We report neutron scattering measurements on YbMnSb2 which shed light on the nature of the magnetic moments and their interaction with Dirac fermions. Using half-polarized neutron diffraction we measured the field-induced magnetization distribution in the ...

The cross-sections of exclusive (coherent) photoproduction J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons in ultra-peripheral PbPb collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02TeV are measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 228 ± 10 ...

Low-temperature variable-energy electron irradiation was used to induce non-magnetic disorder in a single crystal of a hole-doped iron-based superconductor, Ba1-xKxFe2As2, x = 0.80. To avoid systematic errors, the beam energy was adjusted non-consequently ...

Magnetically responsive soft materials are promising building blocks for the next generation of soft robotics, prosthesis, surgical tools, and smart textiles. To date, however, the fabrication of highly integrated magnetic fibers with extreme aspect ratios ...

We study quantum field theory on a de Sitter spacetime dS(d+1) background. Our main tool is the Hilbert space decomposition in irreducible unitary representations of its isometry group SO(d + 1, 1). As the first application of the Hilbert space formalism, ...

Free-electron lasers and high-harmonic-generation table-top systems are new sources of extreme-ultraviolet to hard X-ray photons, providing ultrashort pulses that are intense, coherent and tunable. They are enabling a broad range of nonlinear optical and s ...

Zinc phosphide (Zn3P2) has been lauded as a promising solar absorber material due to its functional properties and the abundance of zinc and phosphorous. In the last 4 decades, there has not been any significant improvement in the efficiencies of Zn3P2-bas ...

This thesis reports on the realization of the first experiments conducted with superfluid, strongly interacting Fermi gases of 6Li coupled to the light field of an optical cavity. In the scope of existing ultracold atomic platforms, this is the first time ...

We introduce turboMagnon, an implementation of the Liouville-Lanczos approach to linearized time-dependent density-functional theory, designed to simulate spin-wave spectra in solid-state materials. The code is based on the noncollinear spin-polarized fram ...

We present a cryogenic system design and development for ice lithography. The cryo-stage is designed with embedded channels to allow direct liquid nitrogen flow, enabling fast cryogenic cooling, and low sample temperature. The stage cools down to 78.8 K in ...

Shearing DNA to a certain size is the first step in many medical and biological applications, especially in next-generation gene sequencing technology. In this article, we introduced a highly efficient ultrasonic DNA fragmentation method enhanced by needle ...

Capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) are regarded as an attractive candidate in bio-applications such as imaging and molecule monitoring. However, the previous researches on biochemical sensing are mostly air-coupled application based on ...

We point out an enhancement of the pair production rate of charged fermions in a strong electric field in the presence of time dependent classical axion-like background field, which we call axion assisted Schwinger effect. While the standard Schwinger prod ...

This work presents a fast and robust method for optimizing the stationary radial distribution of temperature, density and parallel current density in a tokamak plasma and its application to first-principle-based modeling of the ITER hybrid scenario. A new ...

A Koopman decomposition of a complex system leads to a representation in which nonlinear dynamics appear to be linear. The existence of a linear framework with which to analyze nonlinear dynamical systems brings new strategies for prediction and control, w ...

Measurements of CP observables in B± → DK± and B± → Dπ± decays are presented, where D represents a superposition of D0 and ¯D0 states. The D meson is reconstructed in the three-body final states K0 SK±π∓ and K0 SK∓π±. The analysis uses samples of B mesons ...

Spin-dependent scattering from magnetic impurities inside a superconductor gives rise to Yu-Shiba-Rusinov (YSR) states within the superconducting gap. They can be modeled by the largely equivalent Kondo or Anderson impurity models. The role of the magnetic ...

This brief reports the analytical modeling and measurements of the inflection in the MOSFET transfer characteristics at cryogenic temperatures. Inflection is the inward bending of the drain current versus gate voltage, which reduces the current in weak and ...
