In the past 10 years, our laboratory has proved the shine-through paradigm to be a very sensitive endophenotype for schizophrenia. The shine-through paradigm is a visual backward masking task, where the target is a vertical vernier followed by a 25-element ...

BACKGROUND: Hippocampal alterations are among the most replicated neuroimaging findings across the psychosis spectrum. Moreover, there is strong translational evidence that preserving the maturation of hippocampal networks in mice models prevents the progr ...

The present thesis aimed at investigating behavioral and neural underpinnings of the mechanisms related to the different aspects of self-monitoring. The first aim was to study functional connectivity alterations related to the mechanisms accounting for the ...

The spectral properties of the Rayleigh backscattered traces measured by a phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer (øOTDR) with direct detection are theoretically and experimentally analyzed. The spectrum of the measured øOTDR signal is found to ...

In visual backward masking (VBM), a target is followed by a mask. Over the past decade, a VBM task, called the Shine-Through paradigm (ST), has been shown to be a very sensitive endophenotype of schizophrenia. In the present thesis, the electrophysiologica ...

The geometry and hydrodynamics of river reaches are key ecohydraulic descriptors. Statistics of water depth and velocity measurements are usually taken as proxies for habitat suitability in rivers. However, little is known about the sufficiency of data to ...

The wide adoption of DNNs has given birth to unrelenting computing requirements, forcing datacenter operators to adopt domain-specific accelerators to train them. These accelerators typically employ densely packed full-precision floating-point arithmetic t ...

Masking is strongly deteriorated in schizophrenia patients and to a lesser extent in their healthy relatives. For this reason, masking is a good endophenotype. Here, we show the EEG correlates of masking across the schizophrenia continuum in order to tackl ...

Schizophrenia is a heterogeneous disease strongly influenced by genetic factors. We have previously shown that visual backward masking (VBM) is a very sensitive endophenotype of schizophrenia (Chkonia et al., 2010). Importantly, not only patients but also ...

In visual backward masking (VBM), a target is followed by a mask, which deteriorates performance on the target. Schizophrenia and first episodes patients show strong behavioral deficits, reflected in strongly reduced amplitudes of the EEG as compared to co ...

Visual backward masking (VBM) is a very sensitive endophenotype of schizophrenia. Masking deficits are highly correlated with reduced EEG amplitudes. In VBM, a target stimulus is followed by a mask, which decreases performance on the target. Here, we inves ...

Schizophrenia is a heterogeneous disorder and among other symptoms, patients have important visual impairments. Visual paradigms are therefore important tools to investigate the mechanisms of schizophrenia. We have previously shown that visual backward mas ...

Visual deficits are well documented in schizophrenia. For example, a Vernier is followed by a blank inter-stimulus interval (ISI) and then a grating mask. Observers indicate the direction of the Vernier offset (left vs right). Patients need ISIs that are 1 ...

Visual backward masking (VBM) is strongly deteriorated in schizophrenia patients. VBM is a potential endophenotype of schizophrenia reflecting the genetic underpinnings of the disease (Chkonia et al., 2010). Masking deficits are highly correlated with redu ...

Visual deficits are well documented in schizophrenia, especially in backward masking. In our task a Vernier is followed by a blank inter-stimulus interval (ISI) and then a grating mask. Observers indicate the direction of the Vernier offset (left vs right) ...

Background and Objectives: Prefrontal cortex (PFC) dysfunctions leading to cognitive deficits refer to a core feature of schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD). This exploratory study compares the effect of SSD on two stages of maturation of PFC. Methods: ...

In visual backward masking, a target is followed by a blank screen (ISI - Inter-stimulus-interval) and, then, a mask which deteriorates target processing. Schizophrenic patients show strong but complex processing deficits in visual masking compared to heal ...

Visual backward masking (VBM) is a potential endophenotype of schizophrenia reflecting the genetic underpinnings of the disease (Chkonia et al., 2010). Masking deficits are highly correlated with reduced N1 amplitudes as shown by the Global Field Power (GF ...

We demonstrate imaging of blood cells enclosed in chicken skin tissue using speckle scanning microscopy (SSM). Clear images of multiple cells were obtained with subcellular resolution and good image fidelity, provided that the object dimension was smaller ...

Background: Computer assisted cognitive remediation (CACR) was demonstrated to be efficient in improving cognitive deficits in adults with psychosis. However, scarce studies explored the outcome of CACR in adolescents with psychosis or at high risk. Aims: ...
