A search is presented for the resonant production of a pair of standard model-like Higgs bosons using data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2016-2018, corresponding to an ...

The Scattering and Neutrino Detector at the LHC (SND@LHC) started taking data at the beginning of Run 3 of the LHC. The experiment is designed to perform measurements with neutrinos produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC in an energy range between ...

A search for an exotic decay of the Higgs boson to a Z boson and a light pseudoscalar particle (a), decaying to a pair of leptons and a pair of photons, respectively, is presented. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass ene ...

A search for collective effects inside jets produced in proton-proton collisions is performed via correlation measurements of charged particles using the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The analysis uses data collected at a center-of-mass energy of root s = ...

At CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC), proton and heavy-ion beams are accelerated to multi-TeV energies to be collided for the needs of the scientific community around the world. The total stored beam energy of tens to hundreds ofMJ creates potential threa ...

An amplitude analysis of the B0→K∗0μ+μ- decay is presented. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb experiment from proton-proton collisions at s=7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb-1. For the first time, Wilson ...

Ultra-high dose rate radiation therapy (FLASH) based on proton irradiation is of major interest for cancer treatments but creates new challenges for dose monitoring. Amorphous hydrogenated silicon is known to be one of the most radiation-hard semiconductor ...

We model interactions following the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) framework in disordered graphene flakes up to 300 000 atoms in size (-100 nm in diameter) subjected to an out-of-plane magnetic field B of 5-20 Tesla within the tight-binding formalism. We investi ...

Searches for the rare hadronic decays B0→p¯pp¯p and B0s→p¯pp¯p are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. Significances of 9.3σ and 4.0σ, including statistical ...

A search is reported for near-threshold structures in the J=ψJ=ψ invariant mass spectrum produced in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV from data collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 135 fb-1. Three structures ...

The first observation of the Λb0→Ds−pΛb0→Ds−p decay is presented using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of ss = 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 6 fb−1−1. Using the Λb0→Λc ...

Decay of a particle into more particles is a ubiquitous phenomenon to interacting quantum systems, taking place in colliders, nuclear reactors or solids. In a nonlinear medium, even a single photon would decay by down-converting (splitting) into lower-freq ...

The first study of the shapes of jets arising from bottom (b) quarks in heavy ion collisions is presented. Jet shapes are studied using charged hadron constituents as a function of their radial distance from the jet axis. Lead-lead (PbPb) collision data at ...

Higher-order asymptotics provide accurate approximations for use in parametric statistical modelling. In this thesis, we investigate using higher-order approximations in two-specific settings, with a particular emphasis on the tangent exponential model. ...

We present a comprehensive study shedding light on how thermal fluctuations affect correlations in a Bose gas with contact repulsive interactions in one spatial dimension. The pair correlation function, the static structure factor, and the one-body density ...

In the framework of mixed Higgs-Starobinsky inflation, we consider the generation of Abelian gauge fields due to their nonminimal coupling to gravity (in two different formulations of gravity-metric and Palatini). We couple the gauge-field invariants F mu ...
