A search is presented for the resonant production of a pair of standard model-like Higgs bosons using data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2016-2018, corresponding to an ...

Analyzing neutron noise in zero-power reactors provides information about integral parameters, such as the prompt decay constant

alpha. This information can be used to validate codes that predict said parameters, or time-dependent behavior, part ...

After rapid approval and installation, the SND@LHC Collaboration was able to gather data successfully in 2022 and 2023. Neutrino interactions from nu(mu)s originating at the LHC IP1 were observed. Since muons constitute the major background for neutrino in ...

A search for an exotic decay of the Higgs boson to a Z boson and a light pseudoscalar particle (a), decaying to a pair of leptons and a pair of photons, respectively, is presented. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass ene ...

A search for collective effects inside jets produced in proton-proton collisions is performed via correlation measurements of charged particles using the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The analysis uses data collected at a center-of-mass energy of root s = ...

A search is reported for near-threshold structures in the J=ψJ=ψ invariant mass spectrum produced in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV from data collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 135 fb-1. Three structures ...

Searches for the rare hadronic decays B0→p¯pp¯p and B0s→p¯pp¯p are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. Significances of 9.3σ and 4.0σ, including statistical ...

Higher-order asymptotics provide accurate approximations for use in parametric statistical modelling. In this thesis, we investigate using higher-order approximations in two-specific settings, with a particular emphasis on the tangent exponential model. ...

A Finite Element Model is used to observe the build-up of residual thermal stresses during the sintering process in two WC-Co samples with different volume fractions of Co. A realistic model of the two phase material is obtained by FIB slicing a real WC-Co ...

Electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions are pervasive in condensed matter, governing phenomena such as transport, superconductivity, charge-density waves, polarons, and metal-insulator transitions. First-principles approaches enable accurate calculations of e- ...

This thesis focuses on two kinds of statistical inference problems in signal processing and data science. The first problem is the estimation of a structured informative tensor from the observation of a noisy tensor in which it is buried. The structure com ...

This thesis presents new results on searches for lepton-flavour-violating particle decays, performed in the LHCb experiment at CERN. Two analyses are discussed in detail. The first one concerns the B(s,d)->e mu decay. No evidence of signal is observed and ...

We report measurements of the production cross sections of charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of fractional energy, the event-shape variable called thrust, and the transverse momentum with respect to the thrust axis. These measurements access ...

The production of (nS) mesons (n = 1; 2; 3) in p Pb and Pb p collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair p sNN = 8 : 16TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 31.8 nb. The (nS) mes ...
